Job Summary: The Population Health Collaborative Intern will support the strategic initiatives of Emory Healthcare's Population Health Collaborative (PHC). This role is designed for a student or recent graduate looking to gain hands-on experience in Population Health, Value-Based Care (VBC), quality improvement, medical staff services, managed care contracting, primary care operations and healthcare data and analytics. You will work alongside Population Health Collaborative leaders to advance initiatives and help implement programs designed to improve health outcomes for our patient populations. Primary duties and responsibilities: Data Visualization and Analysis: 1. Assist in gathering and reviewing data to support operations or identify trends in chronic disease management and preventive care gaps (e.g., Annual Wellness Visits, screenings). Provider Engagement: 1. Support the creation of toolkits and educational materials used to brief physicians and clinical staff on quality metrics and operational initiatives. Patient Outreach Initiatives: 1. Assist in the development of patient-facing communications and educational resources. Special Projects: 1. As assigned depending on current initiatives and needs. Additional Duties as Assigned. Travel: Less than 10% of the time may be required. Work Type: Hybrid employee - splits time between working remotely and working in the office. Minimum Required Qualifications: Education - Currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's or Master's program (MPH, MHA, MBA, or related Health Science field) Knowledge, skills, and abilities (required): - Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and PowerPoint - Ability to interpret data and communicate findings clearly - Professional written and verbal communication skills for interaction with diverse administrative and clinical stakeholders Preferred Qualifications Knowledge, skills, and ability requirements (preferred): - Interest in learning more about the transition from Fee-for-Service to Value-Based reimbursement and managing acute episodes of care to managing population health -Prior experience or coursework in healthcare operations, policy, public health or statistics Internship Learning Objectives - Gain a comprehensive understanding of how a large academic health system navigates the evolving landscape of healthcare reimbursement and care management - Recognize the impact of social determinants of health, reimbursement models, technology, data, and operational structures on clinical outcomes - Develop professional skills in a corporate healthcare environment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium Max 25lbs): up to 25 lbs., 0-33% of the work day (occasionally) Lifting 25 lbs. max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs.; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.

Environmental exposures include but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure, Bio-hazardous waste chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors, Communicable diseases, Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
