    Description

    The Transportation Specialist (TC) plays a mission‑critical role in managing and optimizing the US/NA transportation network. This position is responsible for coordinating all freight flows—including inbound, outbound, drop ship, transfer, and project‑based movements—across all modes of transportation (LTL, TL, IMDL, Parcel, Ocean, Air, Expedited, and Consolidation).

     

    The ideal candidate will combine strong executional capability with analytical thinking, cross‑functional communication skills, and the ability to partner with carriers, 3PLs, suppliers, internal teams, and distribution centers. As the frontline owner of day‑to‑day transportation performance, this role directly influences cost, service, and customer experience.

    Responsibilities:

    + Manage and monitor the daily flow of shipments across the US/NA network, ensuring on‑time pickup, transit, and delivery performance.

    + Execute accurate and timely freight quoting across all modes, including complex multimodal moves.

    + Serve as the primary point of contact for carriers, 3PL partners (including CHR and SA Carriers), and internal stakeholders.

    + Coordinate inbound freight from suppliers, outbound freight to customers, and transfer shipments between McCue locations.

    + Resolve transportation issues—including delays, damages, exceptions, accessorial changes, and customer‑impacting risks—in a timely and solution‑oriented manner.

    + Ensure all transportation documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with regulatory, customer, and internal requirements.

    + Manage freight claims end‑to‑end across all modes, including documentation, carrier communication, tracking, and resolution.

    + Support internal audit and compliance efforts, proactively addressing process gaps.

    Key Activities:

    + Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for freight quotes across all transportation modes.

    + Manage inbound and outbound freight from various network distribution centers and suppliers as well as to customers.

    + Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to inbound and outbound shipments, including delays, consignments, damages, lost freight, trade shows and expedited shipments.

    + Collaborate with the Danvers Distribution Center (DDC) and other necessary facilities and for data entry and collection related to new part numbers in transportation.

    + Partner with internal and external stakeholders to understand and execute carrier capacity needs.

    + Oversee the management of various transportation-related trackers and dashboards to drive continuous improvements.

    + Collaborate both internally and externally to always ensure compliance and accuracy.

    + Act as the primary HubSpot power user for transportation-related tasks.

    + Manage claims across all modes of transportation.

    + Oversee rollouts related to transportation.

    + Develop and maintain documented work processes across the transportation team.

    + Communicate effectively and in a timely manner.

    + Other duties as required.

    + Adaptability: Remain agile in a dynamic environment with changing priorities, seasonal volume fluctuations, and special project demands.

    + Proactive Problem Solving: Anticipate potential service failures or bottlenecks and intervene early.

    Requirements:

    + Associate’s degree or equivalent (relevant coursework or university degree is a plus)

    + 2+ years in multi-modal transportation environment

    + Strong organizational, time, and project management skills

    + Effective written and verbal communication

    + Basic knowledge of transportation-related regulations and compliance with the desire to expand this skillset.

    + Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks/projects/priorities.

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel

    + Familiarity with various Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and logistics software

    + Strong strategic thinking and honed analytical skills

    + Solid understanding of transportation regulations and compliance requirements (or willingness to advance this skillset).

    + Must have a bias to be proactive and ensure follow through

    + Proven ability to build partnerships with carriers and internal teams.

    + Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment with high expectations and accountability.
