Overview
**_Barnes-Jewish Hospital_** at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and is ranked as one of the nation's top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. Facilities Engineering maintains 6 million square foot of facilities dedicated to clinical and academic functions. Facilities Engineering is comprised of 150 professionals, including engineers, MEP mechanics, building finishes and support staff. The Facilities and Engineering department at Barnes Jewish Hospital is a progressive, innovative department which stresses employee involvement, continued education/training and opportunities for advancement. Consistent customer and staff satisfaction surveys reflect a continuous rating in the upper 90% and staff responses to ''intent to continue employment at BJH'' rating in the upper 90%.
Preferred Qualifications
Role Purpose
Provides locksmith service throughout the hospital campus. Pin and install best cores, cut best keys, cabinet keys and desk keys. Monitor and program electronic key cabinets throughout the medical campus. Maintain all electronic and paper records pertaining to key codes and lock location on every bestlock throughout the hospital complex for BJH, SLCH, The Rehabilitation Institute of St. Louis and the Goldfarb College Of Nursing. Assists the Sr Locksmith as needed.
Responsibilities
+ Maintains electronic key cabinets of which there are currently 17 throughout the hospital. Contacts management when keys are kept out longer then 8 hours and sends appropriate documentation so they can contact employee to immediately return the key set. Contacts contractors who have not returned keys to have them return the keys. Maintain a Master key data base of all hospital master keys issued to hospital personnel ensuring that only one master key to a division is issued to a person. If the person states they lost or the key was stolen then they have to report it as such to Security and obtain a report number before a replacement will be issued.
+ Maintain all key code records on computer hard drive, jump drive and paper in note books which are kept in the Key Control Office.
+ Door Keys - Produce BEST keys by code using a key combinator (punch) specifically designed to cut best keys. The key codes for all Best locks are maintained by the Key Control department. Cut keys are marked with alpha numeric markings which identify each key. Furniture and Equipment keys - Maintains an inventory of more then one hundred different key blanks which are used to cut keys for furniture and equipment locks. The keys ore originated by using a special key machine designed to cut by code; key codes are obtained from a subscription database.
+ Combinates (pins) all cores manually, tests all cores with appropriate keys, and installs cores according to the door schedule; provide keys to the customers in the quantity requested; prepare documentation of the master key systems in both digital and printed format.
+ Assist contractors by removing a hospital core and installing a hospital contract core in a lock. Making Best keys for their use while on their specific work sites. Maintain security of the hospital through the appropriate distribution of keys.
