Job Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time Analyst Programmer, competency level 3, position for the School of Chemical, Biological, and Environmental Engineering at Oregon State University ( OSU ).
This position supports research on scientific programs involving technology development for people with type 1 diabetes, with potential projects including (but not limited to):
+ developing new software programs that run on smart phones and desktop computers.
+ developing new software programs that run on cloud servers (e.g. Amazon Web Services)
The position requires skills for the development of software on phones and on cloud-based servers.
This position requires skills in software development on Android phones including Kotlin and Java.
This position requires skills in software development on Apple iOS phones including Swift.
Experience in computational diabetes, signal processing, machine learning is a plus.

What We Require
This classification requires a basic foundation of knowledge and skills in systems analysis and related programming support functions generally obtained by a bachelor’s degree in computer science, or an equivalent amount of training and applied experience.
What You Will Need
+ iOS programming experience with Swift
+ Android programming experience with Kotlin and Java
+ Computer programming experience (e.g., C, R, Matlab Python) including computer simulation of complex physical systems.
+ Strong knowledge of computational diabetes.
+ Ability to communicate complex ideas to collaborators and co-workers.
+ Demonstrated ability and commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity by contributing to an equitable and accessible learning and working environment that emphasizes collaborative interactions with colleagues, students, and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

+ Proficiency in software packages for RSTAN MCMC simulations.
+ Familiarity with compartment modeling, glucoregulatory models, machine learning, signal processing, statistics and error analysis (uncertainty quantification).
+ 5-10 years research experience with focus in an area related to the research pursuits of the Jacobs lab.
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
Work hours are 8am – 5pm with occasional evening and weekend work as needed; however, evening and weekend work will be necessary on occasion to meet project deadlines.
Ability to work at a computer for up to 4 hours at a time. Work includes preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. Position performs repetitive manual manipulations (gripping, grasping, fingering, pinching, typing, using a mouse, etc.)
