    As an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in moving medications throughout the facility. You will join a team that empowers you to make valuable contributions to patient-focused care and teaching and research activities. In this unit, you will find a positive dynamic where caregivers respect and support one another in providing the best care possible.

     

    A caregiver in this position works varying shifts between 6:00AM - 11:00PM and rotate every other weekend.

    A caregiver who excels in this role will:

    + Prepare medications through selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding.

    + Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations in an accurate and timely manner.

    + Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies and complete inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections.

    + Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.

    + Document regulatory requirements, including temperature logs, scheduled activities and training.

    + Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks.

    + Assist with the training of pharmacy caregivers and students.

    Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    + A high school diploma or GED

    + Upon hire, you must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA)

    + Upon hire, it is required to hold an active registration through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) as either a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician, or Pharmacy Technician Trainee

    + Caregivers with active Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Registered Pharmacy Technician registrations are required to update their registration to a Certified Pharmacy Technician registration with the OBOP within 6 months

    + Can perform algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds

    Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    + Six months of hospital experience

    Physical Requirements:

    + Working while standing, walking, reaching, stretching and sitting for prolonged periods

    + Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer, dispensing and compounding functions

    Personal Protective Equipment:

    + Follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required

     

    Pay Range

     

    Minimum hourly: $15.75

     

    Maximum hourly: $21.65

     

    The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set and education. The pay range displayed does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.).
