As part of Team Amex, you'll experience this powerful backing with comprehensive support for your holistic well-being and many opportunities to learn new skills, develop as a leader, and grow your career.

Here, your voice and ideas matter, your work makes an impact, and together, you will help us define the future of American Express.

How will you make an impact in this role?

About American Express Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS)

Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS) powers the American Express global payments network, enabling more than $1.7 trillion in annual spend across 170 markets. Within GMNS, the Network & Acquirer Solutions (NAS) team sits at the center of the enterprise—driving products, capabilities, and partnerships that enable merchants, acquirers, ISVs, and payment facilitators to connect to the American Express Network with speed, scale, and reliability.

As part of our multi-year Acquirer Platform Transformation (APT), we are modernizing the way partners integrate with our products and services. The rise of platforms, intermediaries, PayFacs, and commerce ecosystems demands that we deliver a simpler, faster, and more unified developer and integration experience. This is a top strategic priority for GMNS.

    Role Summary

Reporting to the Vice President of Acquirer Platform Transformation, the Vice President, Value Delivery Product will lead a newly created product team responsible for designing the future of how external acquiring partners and customers connect with American Express and experience GMNS value-added-services.

This leader will define the vision for a new, API-first integration layer, architect a world-class developer experience and portal, and build a unified and streamlined journey for merchants, ISVs, PayFacs, and acquirers integrating with AXP solutions. This includes driving product strategy, defining the roadmap, gathering business and customer requirements, shaping go-to-market plans, and measuring adoption and customer success. This role will also have responsibility for identifying opportunities within the Acquirer Platform Transformation (APT) roadmap to deliver incremental value to GMNS customers more efficiently and effectively by designing future-proofed solutions that work effectively across commercial constructs, markets, and products.

The ideal candidate brings deep platform product leadership experience, understands modern integration patterns, and can bridge business, product, engineering, and partner needs to build an ecosystem that is intuitive, scalable, and developer-centric.

    Key Responsibilities

    Vision & Strategy

    * Define and champion the strategic vision for an API-first integration layer and next-generation developer experience for acquiring partners.

    * Establish a long-term platform strategy that simplifies partner integrations and enhances access to AXP products and services.

    * Evaluate market and technology trends—across fintech, acquiring, and platform ecosystems—and incorporate emerging best practices into the product roadmap.

    * Shape the future of both existing and emerging acquiring models (e.g., Payment Designation) through a modern, unified integration experience.

    Product Ownership & Roadmap Delivery

    * Own the end-to-end product lifecycle for the integration layer, including API taxonomy, standards, documentation, onboarding flows, testing environments, and certification processes.

    * Develop a multi-year roadmap aligned with GMNS priorities, partner needs, and APT architectural direction.

    * Translate complex business and technical requirements into clear product specifications and partner-friendly experiences.

    * Partner with engineering, architecture, and design teams to drive prioritization, execution, and delivery.

    Developer & Partner Experience

    * Lead the creation of an intuitive developer portal that supports API discovery, documentation, sandbox testing, analytics, and lifecycle management.

    * Conduct user research with developers, product managers, solution architects, and external partners to ensure the experience is simple, modern, and competitive.

    * Establish and refine KPIs such as integration time, partner satisfaction, platform adoption, activation rates, and performance metrics.

    * Ensure the integration experience is consistent, scalable, and enables rapid access to AXP capabilities.

    Cross-Functional Leadership

    * Build strong relationships across GMNS, Enterprise Digital & Data Solutions, Technology, Risk, Compliance, and Commercial teams to ensure alignment and execution.

    * Serve as the primary product voice for the integration strategy, driving clarity, influencing at all levels, and aligning multiple stakeholders around a common roadmap.

    * Partner with commercial and partner management teams to develop go-to-market approaches that drive adoption and simplify customer engagement.

    Team Leadership

    * Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing product organization with a culture of innovation, customer centricity, and collaborative execution.

    * Provide clear prioritization, resourcing guidance, and coaching to ensure successful delivery against strategic goals.

    Industry & Internal Expertise

    * Act as a subject matter expert for acquiring integrations, global partner models, and emerging platform trends.

    * Empower internal teams—especially commercial organizations—with the tools, knowledge, and product narratives they need to serve customers effectively.

    Required Qualifications

    * Proven experience as a senior product leader, ideally in platform, API, developer experience, fintech, or acquiring ecosystems.

    * Deep understanding of modern integration architectures (REST APIs, eventing, Webhooks, SDKs, sandbox environments, versioning).

    * Demonstrated success defining and delivering large-scale, multi-year platform transformations.

    * Strong ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear product strategies and customer-centric solutions.

    * Exceptional stakeholder management and leadership presence, with demonstrated influence at senior executive levels.

    * Track record of building high-performing, diverse product teams and leading through ambiguity and change.

    * Strong commercial and financial acumen; able to build business cases and evaluate platform revenue opportunities.

    * Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to simplify complexity and inspire teams.
