GA Family Services - Therapeutic Foster Care Clinician
Reports To: Clinical Supervisor
Position Status: Full-Time (40-hours per week)
Salary Range: $28 to $37.63 per hour based on experience and credentials
Position Schedule: Primarily Monday through Friday, 8:30am - 5pm. Schedule flexibility based on youth needs and appointment times.
Position Summary: GA Family Services is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Therapeutic Foster Care Clinician to join our multidisciplinary treatment team. This role provides direct clinical services to youth who have experienced abuse and trauma, supporting them and their families through assessment, therapy, crisis intervention, and coordinated care. The ideal candidate is a licensed clinician who is trauma-informed, collaborative, and committed to helping youth build safety, stability, and resilience.
Although this position is based out of our Cheektowaga office location, occasional travel to our Jamestown office is required.
Qualifications:
+ Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health, or a related field
+ Active license to practice in New York State (LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, or equivalent)
+ Valid NYS Driver’s License
+ Experience working with children and adolescents in therapeutic or foster care settings preferred
+ Strong clinical judgment, communication, documentation, and organizational skills
Job Duties:
+ Conduct comprehensive evaluations and participate in individualized treatment planning for foster youth
+ Provide individual and group therapy services for adolescents
+ Offer trauma-informed care, substance abuse counseling, family therapy, and transitional support
+ Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, including assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes
+ Provide psycho-education and wellness support to youth and families
+ Collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure coordinated, holistic care
+ Promote behavioral health goals and support pro-social skill development
+ Respond to crisis situations and participate in emergency on-call coverage, as scheduled
+ Safety – Follows required safety procedures.
+ In-services – Attends all required in-service training.
GAFS Organizational Responsibilities:
+ Actively participates as part of the interdisciplinary treatment team for assigned youth and to assist in coordinating and monitoring services that are tailored to the needs of the youth.
+ Engages in regular supervision with own supervisor, including scheduled evaluations.
+ Actively participates in all in-service programs and scheduled meetings
+ Maintains ongoing and open communication with team members and promotes relationships of trust and respect with clients, families, customers, and staff.
+ Responsible for emergency on-call coverage, as scheduled
+ Fulfills obligations inherent in the major system of the GACFS and the LSS Personnel policies.
+ Demonstrates a commitment to organizational and department goals.
+ Shares positive and negative information directly with team members and confronts others; to utilize the organizational chain of command.
+ Practices good listening skills and communicates well both in writing and verbally.
+ Demonstrates personal and professional ethics, attitudes and value systems which enhance team functioning and to be abide by the Standards of Confidentiality.
+ Upholds child and family rights as outlined in State Office of Child and Family Services mandates and GACFS procedures.
