We are seeking a skilled Drafter to join our dynamic team, responsible for creating precise and detailed electrical and mechanical drawings using AutoCAD Electrical and Autodesk Vault software. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our electrical and fluid power engineers in developing customized engineered solutions for automation and fluid power projects within a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
+ Create accurate and detailed electrical schematics, assembly drawings, and part drawings using AutoCAD Electrical from data, sketches, or verbal communication.
+ Create bills of material (BOMs) on ERP system consisting of fittings, hardware, and custom brackets.
+ Responsible for creation and maintenance of part models, symbols, and sub-assemblies, ensuring proper naming convention and attributes population is being followed.
+ Follow and enforce drawing standards and modeling best practices.
+ Utilize AutoCAD Electrical and Autodesk Vault software to ensure consistency and compliance with company and industry standards.
+ Maintain proficiency in the latest software updates and features to enhance drafting capabilities.
+ Work closely with electrical and fluid power engineers to understand project requirements and specifications.
+ Participate in weekly production meetings and provide status updates on current projects.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical and mechanical components seamlessly.
+ Effectively manage multiple design projects concurrently and maintain project status using drafting logs.
+ Organize and maintain accurate records of drawings and design files using Autodesk Vault.
+ Ensure life cycle control and manage document revisions as needed.
+ Conduct thorough reviews of drawings to verify accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project requirements.
+ Address and resolve discrepancies or issues identified during reviews.
+ Actively seek opportunities to improve drafting processes and workflows.
+ Stay informed about industry trends and advancements to enhance drafting techniques.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical and Autodesk Vault software, latest versions.
+ Solid understanding of electrical and mechanical principles.
+ Working knowledge of industry drafting and design standards.
+ Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
+ Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
+ Ability to work independently and manage work schedule.
+ Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office software tools: Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Associate degree or equivalent experience in drafting, engineering, or a related field.
+ Previous experience in drafting for automation and fluid power projects.
+ Familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
+ Knowledge of electrical and fluid power systems and schematics.
+ Ability to utilize routed systems such as tubing, piping, and hose.
+ Experience with frame generator and sheet metal design.
+ Prior experience in manufacturing, fabrication, machine design, and system layouts.
+ Ability to utilize engineering tools for sizing fluid conduits for pressure and flow.
Work Environment
This role requires working in a small team where individuals must wear multiple hats, collaborating with two other electrical engineers. You will primarily be part of the automation group but will also gain exposure to other divisions such as hydraulic systems, fluid power, and connectors. Our innovative team focuses on technical customer solutions within a very demanding environment, requiring the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, take constructive feedback, and quickly adapt to changing priorities. Effective communication is essential in this role.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charlotte, NC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $40.00/hr.
