    Job Title: Electrical DrafterJob Description

     

    As a CAD Technician, you will focus on the electrical and pneumatic design, drafting, and documentation that supports custom industrial machinery and automated production lines. This position plays a key role in creating and maintaining CAD drawings, interpreting schematics, and ensuring accurate design implementation during panel build, system wiring, and machine installation.

    Responsibilities

    + Develop, update, and maintain electrical and pneumatic CAD drawings using AutoCAD or similar tools.

    + Interpret and revise electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and pneumatic circuit drawings to support engineering requirements.

    + Collaborate with engineers to review designs, identify potential issues, and recommend improvements to layouts, circuits, and component selection.

    + Maintain accurate and organized design documentation, revision histories, and change records.

    + Build electrical control panels from empty enclosures using engineering documentation and CAD drawings.

    + Wire and mount components including drives, relays, sensors, terminal blocks, and pneumatic manifolds.

    + Support mechanical and electrical assembly teams by clarifying design intent and ensuring correct installation.

    + Diagnose electrical and pneumatic issues using schematics and CAD layouts as reference.

    + Assist with system testing, validation, and commissioning of custom machinery.

    + Participate in on-site installations to verify that systems match design specifications and operate as intended.

    + Ensure all designs and builds comply with NFPA 79, UL 508A, and internal standards.

    + Maintain high attention to detail to ensure accurate and safe designs and installations.

    Essential Skills

    + Experience with electrical/pneumatic drafting and reading technical schematics.

    + Proficiency in AutoCAD or equivalent electrical design platforms.

    + Hands-on understanding of industrial components: sensors, drives, pneumatics, etc.

    + Ability to troubleshoot electrical and pneumatic hardware using drawings as a guide.

    + Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Previous experience designing or supporting automated machinery, robotics, or integrated control systems.

    + Familiarity with standards such as NFPA 79 or UL 508A.

    + Experience optimizing pneumatic layouts and troubleshooting pneumatic systems.

    Work Environment

    This is a design-centric role within a hands-on, fast-paced engineering and production environment. You will collaborate with assembly, electrical, and mechanical teams. The position may require occasional travel to customer sites for installation, validation, or commissioning. Standard workweeks average 40-45 hours, with flexibility based on project load. The work takes place in a small machine shop with about 50 people, focusing on custom machines and weld fixtures for primarily automotive companies and suppliers.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Georgetown, KY.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
