Job Title: Quality TechnicianJob Description

The Quality Technician will work on the engineering team, supporting engineers with non-routine engineering development activities and evaluating returned products from customers. The role involves providing expertise in inspection methods, using metrology and calibration correctly, and supporting the inspection of incoming components and materials. Additionally, the technician will oversee and lead within the Quality Lab, managing daily receiving, in-process, and final inspection activities.

Responsibilities

+ Participate in the development of inspection plans for receiving, in-process, and final inspections.

+ Lead and conduct inspections to support quality lab operations and overall operational requirements.

+ Provide training and guidance to inspector staff and operations personnel on the correct use and care of metrological instrumentation.

+ Inspect metrology for cleanliness, calibration status, and overall operation.

+ Guide and recommend sourcing new metrology and methods for ongoing improvement.

+ Manage material rejections directly with suppliers, including handling NC and CA reporting requirements.

+ Oversee calibration processes.

Essential Skills

+ Experience with PPAP documentation.

+ Proficiency in GD&T and reading/interpreting engineering drawings.

+ Experience with measurement instruments such as CMMs and/or calibration devices.

+ Familiarity with ISO standards.

+ First Article Inspection experience.

+ Experience in documentation and records control.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Associates Degree in Engineering.

+ Experience with Optical Comparator.

Work Environment

This role is based at the Kalamazoo facility, a satellite operation with a total of 50-60 employees. The Quality Team includes 2 Quality Engineers, 2 Quality Technicians, and Quality Inspectors. The Quality Technician will work in the quality lab, directly supporting the engineering team and receiving direction from the 2 Quality Engineers. Standard work hours range from 40-45 hours per week. The facility specializes in end-to-end contract manufacturing and assembly of medical devices, registered with the U.S. FDA and Health Canada.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kalamazoo, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr.
