    Job Title: Supplier Quality EngineerJob Description

     

    The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for preparing and issuing quality inspection documentation and collecting evidence of compliance from suppliers. The role involves building and maintaining relationships with suppliers to understand their processes, offering assistance, and providing training to ensure deliverables meet quality standards. The position requires traveling to supplier locations both nationally and internationally to conduct quality inspections and ensure findings are resolved before product shipment.

    Responsibilities

    + Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure they understand and conform to quality standards.

    + Visit various suppliers and monitor product manufacturing phases to ensure quality adherence, communicating concerns and coordinating corrective actions as necessary.

    + Review raw materials list for product builds to ensure compliance with quality specifications and contract requirements.

    + Assist with writing and completing Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) during order execution and before product shipment to ensure on-time quality and delivery.

    + Follow company QMS FAT requirements for recording and storing suppliers' manufacturing quality records and documentation.

    + Ensure Deviation Requests and Non-Conforming Product Reports are processed correctly.

    + Participate with the Supply Chain in the performance evaluation of suppliers.

    + Assist with the development and training of best practices for suppliers to ensure ongoing conformance to processes and purchase order requirements.

    + Seek opportunities for cost-saving improvements in producing quality products and ensuring on-time delivery.

    + Document lessons learned during projects and report them to the Quality team.

    + Participate in a continuous improvement culture, providing recommendations and implementing enhancements to methods and procedures.

    + Lead or participate in 8D root cause analysis and corrective action projects as needed.

    + Conduct internal and supplier quality audits as required.

    + Perform other duties as assigned.

    Essential Skills

    + Experience in Supplier Quality, Non-Conforming processes, ISO 9001, and Quality Systems.

    + Proficiency in Factory Acceptance Testing and handling non-conformances.

    + Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field preferred, Associate's degree required or 3-5 years of experience as a Supplier Quality Engineer.

    + 2+ years of related work experience in product inspection or manufacturing processes preferred.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Knowledge in Quality Reviews, GD&T, Machining, Materials (primarily steel), Welding, Heat Treatment, Metal Coatings, Supplier Audits.

    + Experience with mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical assembly.

    + Familiarity with Quality Management Systems.

    + Ability and willingness to travel up to 70% both nationally and internationally.

    Work Environment

    The work environment involves designing and building jet engine testing facilities globally, with engineering based in Minnesota and manufacturing outsourced. The role includes significant travel, with the opportunity to work on interesting projects and grow skills.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Brighton, MN.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $48.00/hr.
