    Job Title: Construction Administrator

    Position Overview

    The Construction Administrator (CA) is responsible for managing the

    construction phase of architectural projects to ensure that design intent,

    quality standards, schedules, and budgets are upheld. This role requires strong

     

    technical expertise, a deep understanding of construction processes, and the

    ability to collaborate effectively with clients, contractors, consultants, and

    internal project teams. The ideal candidate has at least 10 years of

     

    professional experience in architectural construction administration, including

     

    work on complex institutional or commercial projects.

     

    A. Education

    + Professional Degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch) preferred.

    + Degrees in Construction Management, Civil/Structural Engineering, or related fields may also be considered when paired with strong construction administration experience.

    B. Construction Oversight

    + Lead and manage the construction administration phase for multiple concurrent projects.

    + Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, assess conformance with contract documents, and document field conditions.

    + Review and respond to RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and substitution requests in coordination with project architects and consultants.

    + Maintain detailed field reports, photographic records, and communication logs.

    + Track construction issues, changes, and resolutions in real time.

    + Serve as the primary liaison between the architect, client, contractor, and consultants during construction.

    + Facilitate weekly OAC (Owner‑Architect‑Contractor) meetings, prepare agendas, and distribute meeting minutes.

    + Communicate field issues promptly and provide proactive solutions to maintain project schedule and quality.

    + Coordinate and review punch lists, substantial completion documentation, and project closeout requirements.

    C. Technical Expertise

    + Interpret and apply building codes, specifications, and construction standards.

    + Evaluate contractor change proposals, pay applications, and field change directives for compliance with design intent and contract requirements.

    + Participate in lessons learned sessions and help improve firmwide CA standards, templates, and workflows.

    + Utilize digital platforms such as Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC Build), Procore, or Bluebeam Studio for documentation and communication.

    + Demonstrate familiarity with SCO procedures, Interscope project management, and public bidding/contracting requirements.

    D. Mentorship & Leadership

    + Mentor junior staff on construction administration best practices, field documentation, and technical coordination.

    + Represent the firm professionally in client‑facing and public settings.

    + Collaborate with project managers to manage CA budgets, staffing allocations, and project hours.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Permanent position based out of Charlotte, NC.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $110000.00/yr.
