Job Title: Machine Operator Assistant
Job Description
As a Machine Operator Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting the machine operation process. You will bundle steel after it comes off the production line, place it on carts, and move it to appropriate areas. Additionally, you will help maintain a clean working area, ensuring minimal debris and scrap metal from the lines. During machine downtime, you will engage in tasks such as sweeping, organizing, or assisting other employees as needed.
Responsibilities
+ Assist Machine Operator in the setup and changeover of machines, involving removal and replacement of tooling rolls, cut-off dies, punch dies, table spacers, and other components.
+ Accumulate products as they exit the machine and safely stack them onto standard company pallets.
+ Learn and apply all necessary packaging requirements, including writing pallet descriptions, applying stickers, and operating banding machines.
+ Operate Jib crane safely to maneuver slit coils onto machine uncoilers.
+ Measure product dimensions and slit coil specifications for quality control and identification purposes.
+ Follow the Helper Housekeeping procedure daily, ensuring the cleanliness of machine and work area.
+ Read, understand, and apply safety practices from the general safety rules manual.
+ Remove punch out bins from presses for forklift pick up and removal.
+ Safely operate wood and metal saws for cutting custom lengths.
+ Learn and apply company standards for effective assistance, including gauge identification and quality control.
+ Assist with maintaining necessary production supplies and perform basic daily maintenance of machines.
+ Remove scrap from machine and place it in designated bins throughout the day.
+ Work at special work stations using various hand tools and equipment.
+ Assist with the inline welding process, including coil strip alignment and clamping strips for welding.
+ Consult with your supervisor if unsure about any duties.
Essential Skills
+ At least 1 year of experience operating machinery in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
+ Ability to read and use a tape measure for various measurements.
+ Bilingual skills (Spanish) are strongly preferred.
+ High School Diploma or GED.
+ Ability to stand for entire shifts and lift up to 40 lbs.
+ Open to working 1-2 hours of overtime per day and Saturdays if converted to permanent.

+ Safety consciousness and strong initiative.
+ Ability to perform basic addition and subtraction.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of PITTSBURG, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.67 - $20.67/hr.
