Job Title: Electrical Equipment Technician
Job Description
The Electrical Equipment Technician leads the execution of complex, high-risk, or first-of-kind electrical equipment builds used in marine, oil & gas, and industrial applications. This role serves as a technical authority within the shop, responsible for setting workmanship standards and resolving advanced technical challenges. Technicians apply deep electrical and mechanical expertise while influencing build methods, mentoring other technicians, and supporting critical customer or field activities.
Responsibilities
+ Lead and execute complex or non-standard electrical equipment builds.
+ Perform advanced electrical wiring, bus bar fabrication, and mechanical integration.
+ Establish build sequencing and approaches for challenging or first-of-kind equipment.
+ Identify design gaps or buildability concerns and drive resolution with engineering.
+ Perform advanced troubleshooting across electrical, mechanical, and system interfaces.
+ Review and validate work performed by other technicians.
+ Maintain accurate build records and support as-built documentation.
+ Drive continuous improvement of build methods, tools, and workmanship standards.
+ Uphold safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.
+ Serve as a technical resource during installation, testing, or commissioning activities.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in using power tools, hand tools, and machining equipment.
+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, electrical schematics, and diagrams.
+ Experience with electrical work.
+ Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
+ Strong interpersonal skills.
+ Ability to prioritize and plan tasks and use time efficiently in a dynamic environment.
+ Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in industrial control panels and automation technician roles.
+ Ability to install electrical and electronic parts and hardware in housing assemblies of various projects for hybrid and electric vessels.

Work Environment
Work hours are from 8 AM to 5 PM in a clean shop environment. Currently, there is no work in the shipyard, but additional work is being bid on.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newport News, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $40.00/hr.
