Description

The Expense Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and timeliness of all employee and corporate expense activity. This role safeguards company resources by reviewing, analyzing, and reconciling expenses while partnering with teams across the organization to promote sound financial practices. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, analytical, and comfortable balancing independent work with cross‑functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

+ Review and process employee expense reports for accuracy, policy compliance, and proper documentation.

+ Monitor corporate credit card activity, investigate discrepancies, and ensure timely reconciliation.

+ Maintain and update expense policies, providing guidance and training to employees as needed.

+ Prepare monthly expense-related journal entries and assist with month‑end close activities.

+ Reconcile expense accounts and resolve variances in a timely manner.

+ Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations.

+ Analyze spending trends and identify opportunities for cost control or process improvement.

+ Collaborate with procurement, finance, and department managers to ensure consistent application of expense policies.

+ Assist with implementation and optimization of expense management systems.

Requirements

Experience in a mid‑size or large corporate environment.

Familiarity with corporate credit card programs.

Ability to analyze data and present insights clearly.

Process‑improvement mindset with a willingness to challenge inefficiencies.
