Description
General Summary
Astronics Test Systems is seeking a motivated DevOps Engineer II to support two closely related functions:
(1) modernizing software development infrastructure and workflows, and
(2) configuring and maintaining Windows-based operating system images that ship with our test systems.
This role will report to software engineering while working closely with corporate IT to improve build, release, and deployment processes while ensuring production systems are securely configured and reproducible.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
+ DevOps & Software Infrastructure
+ Support migration of existing source control repositories to GitHub Enterprise (hosted in Azure).
+ Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for multi-language codebases (C#, C/C++, Python, and web applications).
+ Automate build, test, and release processes using scripting and CI tools.
+ Integrate static code analysis, security scanning, and automated review tools into development workflows.
+ Support Jira-based development workflows and issue tracking.
+ Develop scripts or small internal tools to improve engineering efficiency.
+ System Image & OS Configuration of Test Systems
+ Build and maintain Windows 10/11 system images used in delivered products.
+ Install and configure proprietary Astronics software.
+ Configure local users, directory permissions, group policy settings, and system security options.
+ Apply government or customer-required security baselines (e.g., STIGs) where required.
+ Document system configuration procedures to ensure repeatability and compliance.
+ Support future Linux-based deployments as products evolve.
Qualifications
Required
+ 2+ years of experience in DevOps, IT systems engineering, or software engineering.
+ Experience with Git-based source control (GitHub or GitLab); familiarity with Subversion a plus.
+ Experience implementing or supporting CI/CD pipelines.
+ Scripting experience with Python and/or PowerShell.
+ Experience working with Visual Studio and Windows-based development environments.
+ Experience configuring Windows 10/11 systems.
+ Familiarity with Jira or similar issue-tracking tools.
+ Ability to translate technical requirements into automated or documented processes.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
+ Must be a U.S. Person.
Preferred / Nice to Have
+ Experience with GitHub Enterprise administration or Azure-hosted services.
+ Experience building or maintaining C#, C, or C++ applications.
+ Exposure to static code analysis, security scanning, or automated code review tools.
+ Familiarity with Windows security policies, STIGs, or system hardening practices.
+ Experience developing simple web or intranet applications.
Education / Experience
+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
+ Prior experience supporting development infrastructure or production system configuration.
