    Research Technician I

    Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):

    Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in biology, biochemistry, physiology, biomedical sciences or a related field. Experience with research activities. Research experience in a laboratory setting.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Proficient in wetlab (cell culture, bench assays), dry lab (computational analysis), and mouse work.

    Brief Description of Duties:

    The Yang Laboratory **_https://sites.google.com/view/haojun-yang-lab/home\_** at Stony Brook University is seeking a motivated Research Technician to join our new and growing group. Research in the Yang Lab explores how mRNA translation drives dynamic cellular responses to nutritional and dietary inputs to reshape the proteome and metabolome in ways that influence health and disease. We use a multidisciplinary approach that integrates cellular and molecular biology, protein–metabolite interaction assays, and translational research to uncover how mRNA regulation contributes to metabolic disorders, cancer, and aging. Recent graduates with a background in the biological sciences, a history of academic productivity, and excellent references are encouraged to apply.

     

    The technician will receive comprehensive training in a broad range of experimental techniques, including cell culture, molecular and biochemical assays, metabolic analysis, imaging, and mouse handling and experimental work. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop strong research skills, contribute to high-impact projects, and work closely with the PI in a collaborative and supportive environment.

     

    Under the direct supervision of Dr. Yang, the incumbent will perform the following duties:

     

    + Protein, RNA and DNA preparation and analyses; mammalian cell culture with sterile techniques.

    + Assist in ordering supplies and equipment to keep the lab inventory well stocked.

    + Maintain mouse colony, and mouse metabolic assays.

    + Data analysis and participate in manuscript writing for publication.

    + Maintain laboratory reagents and equipment.

    + Participate in weekly lab meetings, and other duties/projects as assigned.

    + Other Duties as assigned.

    The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Non-Exempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
