Job Description:
Mitsubishi Chemical America is seeking an **HSES Coordinator** to support and strengthen health, safety, environmental, and security programs at our Pasadena site. This role plays a critical part in ensuring regulatory compliance, fostering a strong safety culture, and leading emergency preparedness efforts in a chemical manufacturing environment.
This position includes on-call responsibilities to support emergency response and critical HSES needs outside of normal business hours.
What You’ll Do
As the HSES Coordinator, you will support daily site operations while serving as the primary Emergency Response Coordinator (ERC). Key responsibilities include:
+ Implement and monitor HSES programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and corporate requirements
+ Serve as the site’s Emergency Response Coordinator, maintaining readiness and compliance with the MCA-SPR Emergency Response Plan, including on-call emergency response support
+ Monitor environmental compliance and assist with required testing, reporting, and permitting activities
+ Track and maintain HSES equipment, systems, and controls; recommend improvements to enhance safety, efficiency, and cost effectiveness
+ Assist with incident investigations, reporting, and corrective action tracking
+ Develop, deliver, and coordinate safety training, contractor orientations, and monthly safety meetings
+ Support audits, inspections, and interactions with regulatory agencies and emergency response partners
+ Identify operational and design-related hazards and help drive mitigation strategies
+ Partner with operations, maintenance, and leadership to reinforce a strong HSES culture across the site

What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications:
+ Highschool Diploma -required
+ 3–5 years of experience in safety, health, environment, or production management within chemical manufacturing
+ 5+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing operations or safety & health roles
+ Working knowledge of U.S. HSES laws and regulations applicable to chemical manufacturing
+ Strong organizational and project-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and time-sensitive issues, including on-call responsibilities
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
+ Ability to understand and troubleshoot chemical process operations
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

_The salary range for this position is $83,700-104,600. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting._
