Job Description
Job Summary:
The **Senior Linux Systems Administrator** is responsible for oversight, maintenance, and day-to-day administration of comprehensive computer networks, including all hardware, software, and integrated systems. You will serve as a technical lead, diagnosing complex system failures, replacing defective components, and providing Tier 1-3 support. Your primary mission is to ensure maximum network effectiveness and uptime for the entire orgranization through proactive management and team training.
Job Responsibilities:
+ Ensure the reliability, availabiity and security of the solution by proactively monitoring systems, troubleshooting issues, and resolving incidents to maintain continous operations.
+ Maintain configuration management and baseline control across development, test, pre-production and production environments.
+ Perform regular security scans, analyze findings, and implement remediation actions, including testing new hardware and software.
+ Operate and maintain the solution, including patching operating systems and COTS/FOSS/GOTS applications.
+ Configure, manage, and maintain system components such as application servers, load balancers, databases, and operating systems.
+ Deploy systems in the Lab environment, integrate with other systems, and conduct testing and validation. activities.
+ Manage, track, and maintain configuration items, including licenses, SSL certificates, and hardware/software baselines.
+ Support baseline deployments, upgrades, and updates in production environments, including installation and configuration of new software and hardware.
+ Develop, maintain, and implement detailed documentation and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs).
+ Analyze trends related to component failures, network or node outages, and overall system performance parameters.
+ Collaborate with software and hardware vendors to evaluate vendor products and provide recommendations for procurement.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience):
+ Bachelor’s degree in the field of Information Technology Management or related field is required
+ Minimum of 10+ years of experience in Linux Systems Administrator
+ Proven experience applying Devops methodologies using Ansible and Docker to automate repetitive tasks and ensure multi-environment consistency.
+ Full-spectrum experience in installing, configuring, securing, deploying, managing, monitoring, and maintaining complex hardware and software products across distributed environments.
+ Thorough knowledge of TCP/IP networking and hands-on experience with enclave Ethernet switches, storage area networks (SAN), and network attached storage (NAS) solutions.
+ Practical experience managing and scaling virtualized environments using VMware (ESXi/vCenter) and KVM.
+ Demonstrated proficiency in implementing VPNs (WireGuard, OpenVPN, OpenSwan) and managing cellular modem integrations on Linux.
+ Professionl experience maintaining system health and uptime using Nagios or similiar tools
+ Strong ability to work independently, manage high-complexity projects, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
+ An active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph
Salary Range: $150,000 - $250,000
The AV pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Determination of official compensation or salary relies on several factors including, but not limited to, level of position, job responsibilities, geographic location, scope of relevant work experience, educational background, certifications, contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements, alignment with local internal equity as well as alignment with market data.
