Special Education Teacher (K–2, Semi Self-Contained Classroom)

Schedule: 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to provide high-quality instructional services to students in kindergarten through 2nd grade. Under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, the teacher will support students with diverse needs in a semi self-contained classroom, focusing primarily on foundational academic and behavioral skills. This role requires strong collaboration with general education staff, paraprofessionals, and support teams to ensure IEP implementation, progress monitoring, and student success.
Key Responsibilities
+ Provide specialized instruction to K–2 students in a semi self-contained setting
+ Develop, write, and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
+ Monitor and document student progress toward goals
+ Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families
+ Provide both group and 1:1 instructional support as needed
+ Manage classroom routines and support students with behavioral needs
+ Work closely with assigned paraprofessionals
+ Maintain compliance with district, state, and federal regulations
+ Participate in team meetings, planning sessions, and professional development
Minimum Requirements
+ Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university (preferred)
+ Valid state teaching certificate as required by state or district regulations
+ Minimum of one year teaching experience (preferred)
+ State Teacher Certification, preferred types:
+ Standard Elementary Teaching
+ Standard Secondary Teaching
+ Standard Special Teaching
+ Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) endorsement preferred
+ Ability to meet all professional standards of practice
+ Current CPR certification (if applicable)
+ TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray (if applicable)
+ Current Health Certificate (as required)
+ Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements
+ Must be at least 18 years of age
