You are a highly technical leader with a bias toward action and a passion for shaping an empowered culture. Your leadership will be pivotal in our Finance and Sales Transformation efforts. You will guide your team innovating and influencing in the Finance Org and across the enterprise to update and extend our revenue data pipelines and processes to meet current and future business needs re-enforcing Nordstrom’s competitive advantages and positioning Nordstrom as a trusted source for our customer.
A day in the life...
+ Enhance/develop/execute Finance Technology’s vision and strategies to support company goals.
+ Guide, build and motivate a talented engineering team to deliver quickly and predictably, adjusting in an agile fashion to deliver efficient technical solutions aligned with business needs.
+ Embrace new technology and tools such as AI coding assistants to lead your team in their effective use, adoption and deployment.
+ At the heart of your role is delivery, but equally important is your commitment to our "inverted pyramid" leadership model. In this model, you support your team, not the other way around. You will actively mentor and support your team, fostering a culture where they are empowered to take ownership of their work.
+ A key initiative will be to transition from a heavy reliance on offshore contractors to a high-performing, on-site team that feels supported and motivated to succeed.
+ Manage complex scope of work with multiple tracks in progress at a given time, including operational excellence operating in a true DevOps model.
+ Contribute to architecture, coding, test plans, project plans, deployment planning, and operations to drive excellence and lead the team towards its goals.
+ Partner with Program, Product, and Business teams to establish short-term goals and a long-term vision, including OKRs and other measurements of success.
+ Develop growth plans with engineers based on opportunities, their interests, Nordstrom Competencies, and our Tech Talent Framework.
+ Expand your team hiring talented engineers who can think outside the box, work effectively with stakeholders and across the organization to deliver solutions swiftly and predictably.
+ Ensure the team has the tools, resources, and information they need to be successful.
+ Own end-to-end cross-functional projects, including product definition, roadmap planning, resource planning, and project execution.
You own this if you have...
+ 10+ years of software engineering industry experience, or similar.
+ 5+ years of managing a team.
+ Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, Information Technology or equivalent working experience.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills. You are equally comfortable talking to engineers, business stakeholders, and executive leadership, and are able to influence effectively across the enterprise factoring in competing priorities, proactively addressing potential points of conflict before they become an issue.
+ Deep familiarity with multi-cloud ecosystems, including Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Azure.
+ Hands-on experience with relevant technologies such as Vertex AI for pipeline development and Looker for dashboarding and reporting.
+ Experience with major Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platforms, specifically Oracle Cloud ERP (Fusion, MFCS, and IMCS), is a plus.
+ Demonstrable experience owning and operating business critical SaaS solutions and custom-coded systems servicing internal and external customers.
+ As a leader, you are responsible for holding your teams accountable to engineering standards.
+ Work closely with design advocates and your team to review your solutions and designs, ensuring they adhere to and contribute to our standards.
+ Experience in Finance Technology and/or Retail domains is a plus.
