+ Position: Special Education Teacher (LBS1) – Float Role
+ Location: Oak Lawn + Hometown, IL
+ Schedule: 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. | 30-minute break | ASAP–End of School Year
We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher (LBS1) to serve in a unique floating support role. This position is ideal for an educator who values teamwork, flexibility, and making a meaningful impact across multiple classrooms. You will work collaboratively with a team of three paraprofessionals to support 4 Special Education teachers, assist students across general education electives, and help ensure consistent, high-quality instruction throughout the school.
Role Highlights
• Provide daily instructional support across PE, Music, and Art classrooms, helping lower-functioning students succeed in their general education electives.
• Work with three paraprofessionals as your daily support team.
• Offer one hour of classroom relief for SPED teachers and their paras each day for four days per week, enabling valuable weekly planning time.
• On the fifth day, assist the same SPED team with an additional hour of dedicated planning time.
• Serve in a fully supportive float capacity with no set classroom or caseload.
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university (preferred)
• Valid state teaching certificate per state and district regulations
• Minimum of one year teaching experience (preferred)
• Preferred certifications:
• Standard Elementary Teaching
• Standard Secondary Teaching
• Standard Special Teaching
• LBS1 Endorsement required
• Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
• Compliance with all professional standards of practice
• Current CPR certification (if applicable)
• TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray (if applicable)
• Current health certificate if required
• Must be at least 18 years old
