    School Counselor / School Mental Health Worker – K-5

    Locations:

     
     

    Positions: 2 openings (K–5)

     

    Schedule: Full-Time | 7:30 AM–3:30 PM | 40 hours/week

     

    Start Date: ASAP (flexible for later start dates)

     

    Contract Length: Through 5/21, with possible extension into the 26–27 school year

    Position Overview

    The School Counselor/School Mental Health Worker provides individual and group counseling to students experiencing emotional, behavioral, or social challenges. This role supports students in developing coping strategies, improving emotional regulation, and enhancing overall mental well-being.

     

    Working collaboratively with families, teachers, school administrators, and community partners, the counselor helps create a safe and supportive learning environment. This includes making referrals to community mental health services when needed and contributing to school-wide mental health initiatives.

     

    Each counselor will have their own workspace within the Student Services suite and will have flexibility in setting their schedule. Counselors report directly to the school principal. Caseloads vary by site.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Provide individual and group counseling to elementary-aged students (K–5).

    + Support students with emotional, behavioral, and social needs.

    + Assist students with coping strategies and emotional wellness.

    + Collaborate with teachers, families, and school leadership to support student success.

    + Make referrals to external mental health providers as needed.

    + Contribute to the development of school-wide mental health programs.

    + Maintain compliance with state, district, and professional standards.

    + Participate in interviews/meetings with school administration.

    Minimum Requirements

    + Master’s Degree in Counseling (required)

    + Some flexibility with licensure based on state/contract guidelines

    + Degree may be in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Nursing, Addictions, Human Development, or related fields

    + Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements

    + CPR certification (if applicable)

    + TB test/PPD/chest X-ray (as required)

    + Current health certificate (state/contract dependent)

    + Must be 18 years of age or older

    + Preferred: Experience in school settings or working with children/families
