Position Summary
Under the direction of either the Director or Assistant Director of IT- Enterprise Applications and Solutions, the Section Manager of ERP Solutions will plan, direct and coordinate the day-to-day and medium-term activities of assigned staff and units. This encompasses all functions including, but not limited to, budgeting, personnel planning, technological strategies, supervision of daily operations, business continuity planning, customer service, quality assurance, supporting business processes and critical business solutions. This position will be a key member of the Applications Architecture team and have significant responsibilities in the process of setting the long-term applications direction for NYSTRS. This position will interact will all levels of employees at NYSTRS and will include significant interactions with the executive team and will work closely with the management of all divisions and departments.
Minimum Qualifications
+ A bachelor-s degree in computer science, data science, mathematics or a related field, and 3 years of experience at the supervisory level in Information Technology, including oversight of budgeting, planning, and personnel matters for multiple units within an Information Technology organization; **OR**
+ An associate degree in computer science, data science, mathematics, or a closely related field, and 4 years of experience at the supervisory level in Information Technology, including oversight of budgeting, planning, and personnel matters for multiple units within an Information Technology organization; **OR**
+ Five years of experience at the supervisory level in Information Technology including oversight of budgeting, planning, and personnel matters for multiple units within an Information Technology organization.
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have experience with the following:
+ Directly developing or significant leadership of teams who have developed solutions within a market leading ERP platform and its related technology stacks
+ Utilizing either Workday (HCM and FIN) or with Pension (Defined Benefit) packages
+ Proficiency in facilitating meetings to elicit requirements from stakeholders
+ Leading project teams consisting of staff from multiple departments, coordinating their efforts and communicating progress to stakeholders and management
+ Communicating IT operational activities and issues to various groups of stakeholders, as well as management and executive staff
+ Overseeing subordinate staff by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring and appraising job results, coaching, counseling and disciplining employees, and initiating, coordinating and enforcing policies and procedures
+ Administering and participating in the recruitment, selection, orientation and training of staff, identifying and developing personal growth opportunities for staff, and maintaining a safe and secure work environment for staff
Additionally, the ideal candidate will demonstrate the following:

+ Advanced organizational and analytical skills with a strong ability to solve problems
+ Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products which include Excel, PowerPoint and Word

Job Duties
The duties of the Section Manager - ERP Solutions include, but are not limited to, the following:
+ Oversee the section's staff by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring and appraising job results; coaching, counseling and disciplining employees
+ Manage resources effectively to fulfill business demands based on prioritization and organizational scheduling and roadmap planning
+ Maintain a quality workforce by overseeing and participating in the recruitment, selection, orientation and training of staff, as well as identifying and developing personal growth opportunities for staff
+ Ensure the organization-s effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering and supporting strategic plans for implementing business solutions within our business application portfolio. This includes collaborating closely with other IT units to ensure collective coordination for the success of tasks and projects
+ Partner directly with business stakeholders to understand business needs, goals and priorities
+ Oversee quality assurance of applications to ensure accuracy, integrity and efficiency
+ Recommend information technology strategies within our business application portfolio by evaluating and anticipating requirements and identifying solutions. This will include close collaboration with other IT departments
+ Accomplish financial objectives of the department by forecasting requirements and providing budgetary information as required for our business application portfolio
+ Maintain quality customer service by establishing and enforcing organizational standards and reaching out to customers to understand their needs and to communicate IT issues
+ Work closely with the Manager of our Applications Architecture and Process Management section to ensure our solutions align with our application standards for design, reliability, security, and are aligned with our business objectives
