• Tableau/ETL Developer

    Job Description

    A state agency is looking for a Tableau/ETL Developer to join their team in Hartford onsite once per week. This person will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing data solutions that support enterprise reporting and analytics. This role includes building interactive Tableau reports and dashboards, defining relational data structures, and contributing to database architecture such as data marts, data dictionaries, and both logical and physical data models. The developer will create and maintain efficient T‑SQL scripts, stored procedures, triggers, and SSIS packages to support data ingestion, cleansing, transformation, and distribution across systems including SQL Server, DB2, and other platforms. Core responsibilities include implementing ETL/ELT pipelines, migrating and integrating data from legacy systems, validating data flows, resolving discrepancies, and executing data conversion strategies. The role requires strong collaboration with Business Analysts and end users to translate business requirements into technical solutions, as well as expertise in performance optimization, error handling, secure file transfers (FTP/SFTP), and best practices in data modeling, analytics, and near‑real‑time data processing. Additional tasks include developing and deploying Tableau reports—utilizing features such as dynamic grouping, drill‑downs, summary reporting, and cross‑tabs—to both standard report servers and integrated SharePoint environments. The developer will participate in all phases of the data lifecycle including requirements gathering, mapping, extraction, loading, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and long‑term maintenance.

    Skills and Requirements

     

    5+ years of experience as a Tableau/ETL Developer

     

    5+ years of experience writing complex SQL queries

     

    Experience with SSRS, SSIS, TSQL, Talend, or related tool

     

    Experience debugging and improving query performance

     

    Experience creating Tableau reports from scratch

     

    Expertise with SQL stored procedures Experience in the public sector
