Summary Serve as a Laborer in the Corporate Services Division at DeCA Headquarters (HQ) & Support Center. Performs a variety of work including operating vehicles up to a 5-ton truck, grounds maintenance, operates small engine/equipment up to a 25 HP tractor, and assist the higher graded Maintenance Workers (Motor Vehicle Operator (MVO)) by providing labor support in the following areas: painting, carpentry, electrical, plumbing. Perform minor plumbing and fixtures repairs such as sinks, faucets, commodes, urinals, showers and garbage disposals. Inspect and perform building maintenance including minor carpentry and painting. Load and unload heavy boxes, bulky supplies and materials to and from the truck or dollies. Operates MHE such as electric and manual pallet jack to move, stack and unstack, load and unload materials in and about the warehouse, storage areas, loading dock, and on and off DeCA owned and General Services Administration (GSA) vehicles. Operating pallet jack to move, stack and un stack, load and unload materials. Performing general labor duties such as moving furniture and office equipment, housekeeping, setting up conference rooms and inspecting buildings for preventative maintenance. Physical requirements: Requires a full range of motion including standing, stooping, crawling, kneeling, climbing, walking and working for prolonged periods in uncomfortable or tiring positions, Requires that you have the ability to lift and carry material weighting up-to 40 lbs. and anything over 40 lbs. with assistance. Proper protection against extreme cold and dampness outside is possible using proper clothing. The nature of the work exposes the incumbent to cuts, abrasions, bruises, shocks, and mashed fingers. Work requires moderate to arduous tasks. The tools, equipment, and heavy objects involved occasionally present a chance of serious injury if good safety precautions are not exercised.
