We are seeking hardworking high school students to serve as STEM Ambassadors for the CS Pathways summer program. This role is a fantastic opportunity for students interested in education, mentoring, and STEM fields who want hands-on experience working with youth in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
What You’ll Do:
As a STEM Ambassador, you will play a key role in delivering engaging STEM programming to youth during our summer sessions. Your responsibilities will include:
+ Planning and leading fun, interactive STEM activities during summer programming
+ Using and helping refine STEM curricula to fuel curiosity and learning
+ Co-creating engaging lessons through feedback and collaboration
+ Encouraging participation and inclusion among all program participants
+ Serving as a mentor, role model, and leader for younger students
+ Teaching 40-minute activity rotations and adapting lessons for different age groups
+ Working closely with peers, volunteers, and program staff
+ Supporting site directors and program leadership with additional tasks as needed

Who We’re Looking For:
We are seeking **high school students** who are passionate about STEM, enjoy working with others, and are excited to inspire the next generation of learners. Ideal candidates will:
+ Demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills
+ Be organized, reliable, and able to manage their time effectively
+ Feel comfortable working with youth, peers, and adults
+ Be proficient in Google Suite and Zoom
+ Possess the capability to meet the physical requirements of the role (standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, moving materials, etc.)
Program Details:
+ **Start Date:** Late April 2026
+ **End Date:** Late August/Early September 2026
+ **Schedule** : Varies Monday through Friday between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
+ Earn up to 17.5 hours per week throughout the program.
+ **Training** : Must be able to attend a minimum of 12 hours of training per year.
Qualifications / Requirements:
+ The CS Pathway STEM Ambassador program is intended for high school students in good standing.
+ Applicants must be at least 14 years old at the time of application.
+ All selected candidates under the age of 18 must provide a valid work permit before starting employment.
+ Successful completion of Child Protection Clearances is required as part of pre-employment background checks.
+ Applicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work for CMU in the United States. CMU will not sponsor or assume sponsorship of an employment visa for this opportunity. Carnegie Mellon is not a qualifying employer for the STEM OPT benefit: only the 12-month OPT may be used to work at Carnegie Mellon.
