Role
We are looking for an experienced Sr. Staff Software Engineer to join our Engineering team. This role is a hybrid position based in our San Jose, CA office three days a week, reporting to the Sr. Director, Software Engineering. You will join the team that built the world’s largest cloud security platform from the ground up, currently serving more than 15 million users across 185 countries. In this pivotal role, you will bring your vision and passion to our multitenant architecture, driving the evolution of cloud management automation and orchestration to enable organizations worldwide to harness speed and agility with a cloud-first strategy.
What you’ll do (Role Expectations)
+ Architect and implement robust cloud management automation and orchestration to support our massive global footprint
+ Extend automation capabilities for cloud operations, including critical system upgrades and updates
+ Create and deploy scalable monitoring systems to ensure platform stability and performance
+ Execute cloud operations, deployments, on-call support, and incident management to maintain high availability

What We’re Looking for (Minimum Qualifications)
+ Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in designing, analyzing, operating and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems
+ Technical proficiency with GoLang, Python, Terraform, Temporal, Ansible, networking, Kubernetes, AWS and GCP
+ Strong understanding of web security and protocols including HTTP, SSL/TLS, DNS, SQL and networking fundamentals
+ Experience in observability, building dashboards and a solid understanding of SLI/SLO, error budgets and Grafana
+ Comprehensive DevOps skills across CI/CD, SCM, builds, releases and continuous integration frameworks
What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)
+ Expertise in cloud architecture, automated deployment strategies and operational management of SaaS platforms
+ Ability to resolve escalations and help prevent recurring incidents through process, monitoring and reliability improvements
+ Development experience with large-scale distributed operational tools

Zscaler’s salary ranges are benchmarked and are determined by role and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations and could be higher or lower based on a multitude of factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
The base salary range listed for this full-time position excludes commission/ bonus/ equity (if applicable) + benefits.
Base Pay Range
$154,000—$220,000 USD
