Job Summary and Qualifications

I. **Position Summary** **:**

Under supervision of the Director, Clinical Supervisor, Clinical Coordinator or Charge Nurse and close direction of a registered nurse, administers patient care and related activities, services and/or procedures to promote the physical and emotional health and personal comfort needs for assigned patients. Delivery of patient care includes data collection, documentation, communication, implementation of patient care interventions in accordance with state Nursing Practice Acts and generic/unit structure standard, watching patient monitors and informing the RN of significant rhythms, and admitting/discharging patients from the monitoring system.

The Monitor Tech / Unit Clerk practices autonomously and demonstrates efficiency in prioritizing and multi-tasking while supporting a collaborative environment. The Monitor Tech / Unit Clerk demonstrate proficiency in transcribing physician orders; using the order-entry system; and monitoring patient cardiac rhythms and vital signs via monitor. The Monitor Tech / Unit Clerk practices professional communication with patients, families, physicians, and staff while supporting care that is provided in a patient and family centered environment. The Monitor Tech/Unit Clerk adheres to established policies and procedure and supports the Mission, Vision, and Philosophy of Nursing at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.

What qualifications you will need:

**Education:** High School Diploma or GED

**Licensure/Certifications:** Current BLS or successful completion of BLS during orientation period.

**Experience:** Prefer previous experience with cardiac monitoring. Must be able to successfully identify cardiac rhythms within the initial orientation period. Prefer secretarial experience and previous exposure to medical terminology. Proficient in keyboarding and possesses good Windows platform computer skills.

+ Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

+ Completion of EKG test preferred
