    Manufacturing Engineer I

    Position Summary/Essential Functions:

    Under direct supervision, the Manufacturing Engineer I is an entry level role that assists with designing, implementing, and reviewing manufacturing processes, procedures, and equipment. Supports the manufacture and assembly of new and existing Parker products typically in a single facility. Assists in developing improved manufacturing techniques, testing new systems and methods for efficiency, and planning assembly layouts to optimize production, quality, cost, and safety.

    Responsibilities:

    + Manufacturing Process Flow - Assists in the planning and design of manufacturing processes to improve the manufacture and assembly of new and existing products. Helps determine equipment, and tooling needed in order to achieve manufacturing goals according to product and quality specifications.

    + Process Improvement - Assists in developing and implementing process improvement projects that focus on manufacturing efficiency, material yield, safety, and cost.

    + Engineering Design Support - Provides input to more senior engineers regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.

    + Regulatory Compliance – Helps ensure basic processes and procedures comply with regulations. Learns to apply frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques.

    + Remediation - Investigates and makes recommendations for corrective action to ensure product quality and resolve quality issues.

    + Performs additional responsibilities as assigned

    Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s Degree in related Engineering field with 0-2 years of experience

    + May have limited prior industry experience or worked with direction in student internship programs.

    + Society of Manufacturing Engineering (SME) or Mechanical Engineering (ASME) certification desired

    + Knowledge and ability to apply core concepts of engineering

    + Ability to apply a systematic, disciplined, and analytical approach to problem solving of basic to moderate scope and complexity

    + Effectively apply continuous improvement methods to quality and manufacturing functions (e.g. pull systems, process mapping, JIT)

    + Knowledge of data structures and database programming

    + Ability to work effectively with CAD/CAM systems or other computer aided manufacturing systems, in addition to standard business application software and/ or specialized data analysis tools

    + Ability to use existing procedures to solve problems

    + Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications

    + Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)

    + Ability to research and analyze data effectively and draw valid conclusions

    + Strong verbal and written communication skills

    + Well-organized, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task
