Description We are looking for a skilled Construction Estimator to join a growing commercial real estate development firm in Dallas, Texas. In this pivotal role, you will take ownership of the estimating function, establishing processes and systems to support the company’s expanding portfolio of projects. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the estimating practices for a dynamic organization with significant growth potential.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for various commercial construction projects.
• Manage the bidding process, including the review of plans, specifications, and coordination of pricing with vendors.
• Develop and implement efficient estimating workflows, standards, and best practices as the company’s first dedicated estimator.
• Collaborate closely with project managers, the General Manager, and other stakeholders to support project budgeting and planning.
• Analyze historical data, vendor pricing trends, and market conditions to create informed and competitive estimates.
• Conduct site visits and attend project meetings across Texas, requiring approximately 50% travel.
• Establish and maintain documentation for estimating processes and procedures to ensure consistency and accuracy.
• Provide insights and recommendations to optimize project costs and improve overall efficiency.
• Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and construction methodologies to enhance estimating capabilities. Requirements • Proven experience as a construction estimator within commercial real estate or commercial construction.
• Strong knowledge of project bidding processes, cost analysis, and construction techniques.
• Ability to design and implement estimating systems, workflows, and documentation independently.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment with evolving processes.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail in preparing cost estimates.
• Proficiency in construction-related software, such as Foundation Software or similar tools.
• Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel extensively within Texas as part of the role.
