General Statement of Job
The Custodial Worker position plays an important role in keeping City buildings, equipment, and facilities clean, safe, and welcoming for employees and visitors. This position is responsible for performing general cleaning tasks and routine maintenance to maintain the appearance and functionality of City properties. Working under regular supervision, the Custodial Worker supports the City’s commitment to providing a pleasant and healthy environment, enhancing the overall experience for the community and staff.
Essential Functions
+ Maintains a healthy and clean environment for the enjoyment and safe use by co-workers, residents, and visitors to City facilities
+ Cleans, sanitizes, and supplies public rest rooms daily.
+ Cleans breakrooms, classrooms, meeting and conference rooms, offices, and any other designated locations daily, Washes windows, walls, woodwork, and blinds.
+ Vacuums, sweeps, and dust mops floors.
+ Waxes and uses buffers on floors, wipes bleachers and furniture.
+ Picks up paper and trash from grounds; Gathers and disposes of trash and debris.
+ Empties trash containers.
+ Sets up and breaks down rooms for conferences and meetings.
+ Picks up and delivers tables and chairs and other equipment.
+ Assures cleanliness of grounds adjacent to building entrance and walkways and courts.
+ Perform minor repairs (courts, changes decks, painting, windscreens, etc.).
+ Changes light bulbs and filters
Related tasks:
+ Dusts and/or polishes chairs, tables, shelves, and other furniture or equipment.
+ Inventories supplies and informs supervisor of necessary cleaning and housekeeping supplies.
+ Picks up cleaning supplies and maintains janitorial inventory and supply closets.
+ Delivers newsletters brochures, and interoffice mail.
+ Cleans, washes, and vacuums City vehicles as required
+ Pressure wash buildings, boardwalks, railings, sidewalks, or other locations as required
+ Utilize equipment to maintain a clear path on boardwalks, parking lots, sidewalks, and trails
+ Performs related tasks as required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of:
+ Custodial cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
Skilled in:
+ Basic custodial cleaning methods
Ability to:
+ Establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, patrons, and the general public.
+ Understand and follow oral and written directions.
+ Use, fuel, and maintain pressure washers and blowers.
+ Perform manual labor for extended periods.
+ Identify maintenance or custodial needs and ensure quality work in park areas and other facilities.
+ Efficiently organize tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and allocate time to complete assigned duties.
+ Read, understand and comply with Material Data Sheets.
+ Compose and send e-mail and basic computer skills.
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications
+ Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school.
+ Possession of a valid State of Florida Class "E" driver's license

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Abstained from the use of cigarettes, cigars, and other tobacco products for at least one year prior to date of hire and shall abstain from the use of tobacco products at all times during the period of their employment with the City while both on and off duty.

+ Continuously assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
+ Continuously observing details accurately and identifying variances.
+ Continuously working in a normal office environment with few physical discomforts.
+ Continuously working in an area that is somewhat uncomfortable due to drafts, noise, temperature variation, or the like.
+ Continuously working in an area that is very uncomfortable due to extreme temperature, noise levels, or other environmental conditions.
+ Continuously working with equipment or performing procedures where carelessness would probably result in minor cuts, bruises, or muscle pulls.
+ Continuously demonstrating regular in office or on-site attendance.
Essential Employee Designation
When normal operations of City departments are suspended or interrupted due to a declaration that a state of emergency exists, any employee may be deemed essential by the City. For the preparation and/or continuation of emergency operations or for special work detail, employees deemed necessary shall be required to work.

CITY OF BOCA RATON - BENEFITS SUMMARY
Part-Time Employees
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: To be eligible to receive Paid Leave and to contribute to the 457 Deferred Compensation Plan, a part-time employee must have worked at least 1,040 hours in the prior fiscal year
PAID LEAVE: Employees who work a minimum of 1,040 hours per fiscal year will receive twelve (12) hours of Paid Leave on October 1st. This Paid Leave shall be used no later than September 30th of that fiscal year or it will be forfeited. These hours may not accumulate and may only be granted with the approval of the employee's supervisor. This paid leave has no cash value at separation of employment.
MISSION SQUARE 457 DEFERRED COMPENSATION PLAN: Employees who work a minimum of 1,040 hours per fiscal year will be allowed to participate in the 457 Deferred Compensation Plan. The City will not provide any matching funds.
