    Job Title: Pharmacy Technician 1Job Description

     

    We are seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Technician 1 to join our team. The primary purpose of this position is to manage and prioritize all coverage determination requests, specifically for prior authorizations and Medicare Part D recipients. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the smooth functioning of pharmacy operations by effectively handling these requests.

    Responsibilities

    + Track and triage coverage determination requests submitted by providers to evaluate if a pharmacist review is needed.

    + Obtain verbal authorizations and request detailed clinical information from prescribers.

    + Approve coverage determination requests based on predefined criteria.

    + Enter and document coverage determination request decisions into the Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) system and notify providers and/or members.

    + Respond to client inquiries regarding authorization approvals and PBM online applications.

    + Refer coverage determination requests for specialty drugs to delegated vendors or clients for processing.

    + Contact providers to gather additional information necessary for the coverage determination reviews.

    + Notify physicians, providers, and members about the decisions of coverage determination requests.

    Essential Skills

    + High school diploma or equivalent.

    + 1+ years of experience in retail, hospital, or mail order pharmacy.

    + Current state Pharmacy Technician license.

    + National Certification from Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (CPhT) is preferred.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience with prior authorizations.

    + Strong understanding of healthcare and pharmacy operations.

    Work Environment

    The work environment involves regular use of pharmacy technologies and systems, including the PBM system. The role requires effective communication with providers, prescribers, and members to ensure accurate and timely processing of requests. The position may involve working in a fast-paced pharmacy setting, requiring attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

    This is a Contract position based out of Dallas, TX.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr.
