At Gaming AI in Xbox, we’re looking for an experienced Principal Product Manager to help drive AI-powered experiences for players on the Xbox platform. This role operates at the intersection of consumer productbuilding, AI, and gaming. You’ll be responsible for defining and delivering innovative experiences that unlock new value for players, drive adoption and engagement, and differentiate the Xbox platform. In this role, you will operate end to end – from shaping longterm product vision to shipping, learning, and scaling AI-powered player experiences – while partnering across research, design, engineering, science, data, and go-to-market teams to continuously measure impact, iterate, and deliver meaningful outcomes for players.
This candidate brings deep experience building and scaling consumer products, with a proven track record in product management and hands-on involvement in AI-powered experiences. They can lead products from vision through execution, using data and experimentation to inform decisions and drive outcomes, while creating clarity across strategy, delivery, and iteration. They are highly collaborative and effective in matrixed organizations, partnering across a broad set of teams and disciplines. They thrive in ambiguity, proactively creating clarity for themselves and for the teams they lead.
Responsibilities
+ Set and evolve the product vision and strategy for AI-powered player experiences, grounded in real player needs, differentiated AI capabilities, and clear business outcomes.
+ Own and drive the end-to-end product roadmap, prioritizing experiences that drive adoption, retention, and player delight.
+ Translate complex player problems into intuitive, high value AI experiences, balancing user experience and model capabilities.
+ Partner closely with design, engineering, applied science, data science, and user research to design, ship, and scale high-quality AI features through an experimentation-driven development process.
+ Author clear, concise PRDs, specifications, and decision documents that align cross-functional teams, accelerate execution, and enable informed tradeoffs.
+ Define success metrics and measurement frameworks across player value and product performance, in partnership with analytics and data science teams.
+ Drive rapid iteration through experimentation, leveraging A/B testing, offline evaluation, and qualitative player feedback to continuously improve product outcomes.
+ Influence platform and model decisions based on product outcomes, including model selection, prompt architecture, evaluation approaches, and cost-performance tradeoffs.
+ Own product-led GTM motions for in-market experiences and collaborate with marketing and PR partners on broader GTM strategy and launch readiness.
+ Champion a product-led growth mindset: shipping fast, measuring impact, and iterating relentlessly based on user behavior.
+ Lead complex, ambiguous, cross-organizational initiatives from concept through launch and scale, partnering with teams across Microsoft.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development OR equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Significant experience working on large-scale consumer products driving - product-led growth (PLG) motions in high velocity environments, experimentation, iteration, and metrics driven decision making.
+ Hands-on experience shipping AI-powered consumer features, such as generative content, personalization, recommendations, agents.
+ Proven track record of bootstrapping and scaling consumer experiences, from early concept through broad adoption and maturity.
+ Demonstrated strategic thinking and product vision, with the ability to anticipate future shifts in AI technology and translate vision into executable plans and roadmaps.
+ Comfort operating in highly ambiguous, fast changing problem spaces, with good judgment and problem solving skills.
+ Effective written and verbal communication skills; able to craft compelling product narratives.
+ Demonstrated success leading cross-functional and cross-organizational collaborations, influencing partners across technical and non-technical disciplines and seniority levels.
+ Experience working in fast-paced environments, with high ownership, high sense of urgency, and a bias toward action and impact.
+ Familiarity with AI systems, including core concepts such as model capabilities and limitations, product development and evaluation approaches.
+ Experience in the Gaming industry or consumer entertainment is a plus, particularly in building products for engaged, passionate user communities.
Product Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
