    Special Education (EC) Resource Teacher – Grades 6–8

    Location:

    Positions: Multiple

    Schedule: Full-Time | 37.5–40 hours/week (not to exceed 40)

    Contract Length: Remainder of the school year (with likely extension into the 2026–2027 school year)

    Position Overview

    Amergis Staffing is seeking dedicated Exceptional Children (EC) Resource Teachers to provide specialized academic and behavioral support to students in grades 6–8. Reporting to the Special Education Program Administrator, the EC Resource Teacher delivers targeted instruction, assists with IEP implementation, and collaborates with general education teachers to ensure accommodations and modifications are effectively applied.

     

    This role focuses on supporting students who spend most of their day in general education environments but require additional intervention. Instruction may be provided in small groups or one-on-one.

     

    Caseload: Approximately 30 students

     

    Classroom Support: None

    Key Responsibilities

    + Provide specialized resource instruction for students in grades 6–8 per their IEP requirements.

    + Deliver targeted, small-group or individualized academic support.

    + Collaborate with general education teachers to implement accommodations and modifications.

    + Adapt lessons to help students meet academic and behavioral goals.

    + Monitor student progress and maintain all required EC documentation and compliance.

    + Participate in IEP meetings, planning sessions, and communication with families.

    + Support students in developing academic, behavioral, and social-emotional skills.

    Minimum Requirements

    + Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university preferred

    + Valid state teaching certificate as required by district/contract

    + Preferred certifications:

    + Standard Elementary Teaching

    + Standard Secondary Teaching

    + Standard Special Education Teaching

    + Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) endorsement preferred

    + Minimum of 1 year of teaching experience preferred

    + CPR certification (if applicable)

    + TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray (as required)

    + Current health certificate (per state/contract requirements)

    + Must meet all federal, state, and local regulations

    + Must be at least 18 years old

    + Active NC EC Teacher license preferred

    + Flexibility for candidates with EC experience who are eligible to renew their license

     

    Work Hours & Schedule

     

    + Bell Schedule: 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM

    + Ideal candidate availability: 7:00/7:15 AM – 3:30 PM

    + Hours: 37.5–40 per week (not to exceed 40)
