Job Assembly Lead /** **Senior** **Electro‑Mechanical Assembler (Lead Role)
**Join our team as an Assembly Lead and take the next step in your electro‑mechanical assembly career.** In this Senior role, you will lead and mentor junior assemblers, perform advanced wiring and build work, and support mission‑critical projects for the U.S. Department of Defense and allied partners. This position is ideal for experienced assemblers, wiring technicians, cable technicians, or harness builders looking to move into leadership.
What You’ll Do
+ Lead, train, and mentor junior assemblers while modeling best practices and safe work habits.
+ Interpret drawings, blueprints, wire lists, diagrams, work orders, and technical documentation.
+ Perform advanced electro‑mechanical assembly, including electrical enclosures, cable builds, and wire harnesses.
+ Use crimpers, wire strippers, soldering irons, multimeters, and other hand tools to complete builds.
+ Execute point‑to‑point wiring, cable routing, and equipment installs for commercial and ruggedized enclosures.
+ Build, test, and install CAT5/5e/6, fiber, coax, shielded cables, and solder splices.
+ Troubleshoot wiring, subassemblies, and electronic equipment; recommend solutions to complex issues.
+ Maintain productivity, quality, and accuracy while supporting continuous improvement efforts.
+ Document work through redlines, work instructions, and production/quality forms.
+ Support project leads by planning, organizing, and delivering assemblies on time.
+ Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment; report safety concerns promptly.
+ Hold or obtain a DoD security clearance as required.
What We’re Looking For
+ 4+ years of experience in electro‑mechanical assembly, wiring, cable building, or harness assembly.
+ Strong ability to read and interpret technical documentation.
+ Proficiency with crimping, soldering, wire stripping, multimeters, and related tools.
+ Experience with point‑to‑point wiring, cable harnessing, CAT5/5e/6, fiber, and coax.
+ Strong communication skills and the ability to mentor others.
+ Proven ability to lead small projects or work independently with minimal supervision.
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
+ WHMA/IPC‑A‑620, IPC‑A‑610, or IPC‑J‑STD‑001 certifications (or willingness to obtain).
+ Experience updating or verifying software/firmware.
+ Familiarity with configuring processing, storage, or networking equipment.
+ Fiber optics experience.
+ Material handling or logistics experience.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Virginia Beach, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $29.00/hr.
