Job Description
+ The role involves rigging materials to lift, move, and position them onto ships or around the yard. Riggers convey instructions to crane operators and forklift drivers using hand signals, loudspeakers, or telephones and will be responsible for locating, loading, and unloading materials and equipment both on and off ships, as well as in and out of the yard.
Responsibilities
+ Rig materials to be moved onto ships or around the shipyard.
+ Convey instructions to crane operators and forklift drivers about where to move, lower, or lift equipment.
+ Set up tools and equipment at the job site and put equipment away when finished.
+ Handle winches, grip hoists, pulleys, cables, ropes, mooring lines, and other equipment.
Essential Skills
+ Experience as a rigger, crane operator, or boatswain's mate.
+ Proficiency in Loft Rigging/Bull Rigging.
+ Knowledge of overhead cranes and rigging.
+ 2-5+ years of rigging experience, ideally in a shipyard environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ NCCER certification is a plus.
+ Familiarity with crane rigging, inside rigging, loft rigging, or bull rigging.
+ Experience with chain falls, come-alongs, slings, straps, spreader bars, cables, ropes, and hoisting is advantageous.
Work Environment
+ The work is conducted in the shipyard, supporting new construction projects. The environment is dynamic and requires attention to detail and adherence to safety standards.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $31.00/hr.
