Job Title: Chemical Plant Technician** **Job Description
This role involves ensuring the efficient operation of a specialty chemicals plant, focusing on the production of polymers used in plastics and waste water treatment processes. The position requires working with powdered chemicals and operating machinery across four levels of the facility.
Responsibilities
+ Operate plant machinery and equipment, including opening and closing valves, monitoring instrumentation panels, and reporting gauge readings.
+ Perform repetitive tasks and maintain a stationary position for extended periods.
+ Dump 10-kilo bags into containers, utilize basic math skills, and track plant data.
+ Climb ladders and operate a forklift, handling manual duties with lifting up to 50 lbs.
+ Stay current on operating procedures, emergency procedures, safety, and policies.
+ Communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management.
+ Use forklifts, industrial scales, power tools, and hand tools, performing maintenance as needed.
+ Troubleshoot minor maintenance defects, with a preference for electrical experience.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in machine operation and mechanical functions.
+ Experience in chemical processing, mixing, and batching.
+ Ability to perform quality checks, bagging, and packaging.
+ Strong focus on safety and general production processes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Previous chemical experience is not required; open to experienced and trainable candidates.
+ Manufacturing background, ideally in process manufacturing.
+ Perfect safety track record and no attendance issues.
+ Experience in a heavy industrial role preferred.

Work Environment
Work in a clean room that is air-conditioned, with the rest of the plant exposed to elements. The plant features multi-level structures requiring physical fitness for climbing. The role involves exposure to dry chemicals, dust, noise, and fluctuating temperatures. Operate in 8-hour rotating shifts every two weeks between the first and second shifts, with plans to introduce a third shift once fully staffed. In August, shifts will change to a 12-hour Lego Shift schedule, rotating between days and nights every two weeks.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Chesterfield, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
