    Special Education (EC) Resource Teacher – Grades K–2

    Location:

    Openings: Multiple

    Schedule: Full-Time | 37.5 hours/week (40 max)

    Contract Length: ~5 months (through end of school year)

    Position Overview

    Amergis Staffing is seeking dedicated Exceptional Children (EC) Resource Teachers to provide specialized instruction and support to students in grades K–2. Under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, the EC Teacher will deliver high-quality educational services, collaborate with general education staff, and support students in achieving their Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals.

     

    EC Resource Teachers primarily work with students who spend most of their day in general education settings but require targeted intervention, small-group instruction, and ongoing accommodations to succeed. A Teacher Assistant will provide classroom support, and caseloads are intentionally small to maintain quality (approx. 8 students).

     

    This role is ideally suited for educators committed to teamwork, student-centered planning, and inclusive learning environments.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Provide specialized instruction to K–2 students with mild to moderate disabilities in alignment with their IEPs.

    + Collaborate with general education teachers to support students in integrated settings.

    + Deliver small-group or individualized instruction based on student needs.

    + Maintain accurate documentation, progress monitoring, and compliance with state/district special education requirements.

    + Participate actively in IEP meetings, planning sessions, and multidisciplinary team discussions.

    + Partner with staff, families, and administrators to ensure student success.

    + Promote inclusive practices that support student engagement and growth.

    Minimum Requirements

    + Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university preferred

    + Valid state teaching certificate as required by contract/district regulations

    + State Teacher Certification types preferred:

    + Standard Elementary Teaching

    + Standard Secondary Teaching

    + Standard Special Education Teaching

    + Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) endorsement preferred

    + Minimum of one year of teaching experience preferred

    + Complies with all relevant professional standards

    + CPR certification (if applicable)

    + TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray (as required)

    + Current health certificate (if required by state/contract)

    + Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements

    + Must be at least 18 years of age

    + Preferred: Active NC EC Teacher License

    + Flexibility exists for candidates with EC experience who qualify for license renewal

     

    Work Hours & Schedule

     

    + Full-Time: 37.5 hours/week (up to 40)

    + Bell Schedule: Follows school-day hours
