Xylem is seeking a CDL B Driver Technician to report to our Knoxville, TN location and service water treatment equipment at customer sites throughout the surrounding area.
What Your Day Will Look Like as a CDL B Driver Technician
As a CDL B Driver Technician, you will be responsible for the pickup, delivery, installation, and support of water treatment equipment using a DOT-regulated vehicle requiring a CDL B.
Equipment-specific training is provided. We are open to candidates who hold a CDL B permit and are willing to obtain a full CDL B. Prior commercial driving experience, or a CDL- permit, is required.
This position operates on a standard M-F day shift schedule with overtime opportunities and a compensated on-call rotation, which may include occasional afternoons, evenings, or weekends.

Core Responsibilities for CDL B Driver Technicians
+ Safely operate a DOT-regulated commercial vehicle in compliance with FMCSA, DOT, and local regulations
+ Pick up, deliver, and install water treatment equipment at customer sites
+ Verify delivery and pickup items with customers; inspect equipment and document any damage
+ Obtain customer signatures and complete required documentation
+ Load and unload equipment using motorized handling equipment
+ Secure loads using proper chaining and strapping techniques
+ Operate fusion equipment to assemble HDPE piping systems; ensure systems meet operational requirements
+ Account for environmental conditions that may affect fusion and installation
+ Maintain clean, organized, and safe yard and loading areas
+ Follow all safety policies, complete Job Safety Assessments, and use required PPE
+ Work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision
+ Protect company property and promote a strong safety-first culture
Position Requirements for CDL B Driver Technicians
+ High school diploma or equivalent
+ 0–2 years of technical or construction experience (1 year preferred)
+ Fusion experience preferred
+ Experience with flatbed trailers and load securement preferred
+ Valid CDL B or CDL B permit (required)
+ Ability to obtain a full CDL B and required endorsements
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Card
+ Clean driving record and acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
+ Ability to complete all DOT-required documentation and testing
+ Experience with Microsoft office, including the ability to utilize smart devices
+ Ability to work in a high customer-facing position
+ Ability to identify and remedy potential safety concerns
+ Ability to pass a background check, drug screen, and DOT physical
+ A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 50% or more** **_daily_** **travel
