Plant Manager
Position Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Plant Manager for their Houston, Texas manufacturing site. This role will oversee all daily operations of the plant from production and manufacturing to ensuring policies and procedures are followed. This position will help create the production schedule and drive production to ensure the schedule is met. The Plant Manager will develop and train personnel to ensure successful production.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
• Ensuring that each plant work environment is safe and in compliance with all safety regulations. Responsible for ensuring that safe work practices are in place and adhered to by all plant personnel.
• Ensuring and improving quality by following established work methods. Opportunities to revise procedures to new best practices would be coordinated with the corporate quality manager and affiliated plant managers.
• Improving labor productivity (utilization) resulting in improved labor cost per unit. Responsibilities include daily determination of necessary staffing requirements and work assignments.
• Ensuring that material purchased is transformed into good product without generating excess scrap or waste.
• Responsible for all day-to-day maintenance activities to ensure plant and equipment stays at optional operating status.
• Ensuring that employee disciplinary, hiring and termination practices are being followed without exception. Responsible for maintaining the established staffing level and coordinating permanent staffing additions with the corporate management.
• Training and developing production associates to better perform their job responsibilities.
• Completing monthly physical inventory counts accurately and submitting in a timely fashion to the Controller.
• Ensuring that the plant is maintained in an organized and orderly fashion.
Requirements include but not limited:
• 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, minimum of 3 as a production
supervisor, required.
• Training experience (e.g., manufacturing tools & techniques, standards, regulations) will also be helpful.
• BS degree in Business Management, Plant Engineering or related field a plus
• Bilingual English/Spanish
• Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic
planning, resource allocation and human resources)
• Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise with a mechanical
aptitude
• Be knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory and
stewardship processes
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively
• Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel and Access
• Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
• Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
Compensation:
Salary: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
