Quality Control Lab Technician
Job Description
Focuses on analytical laboratory activities for specific testing involving HPLC; in addition, participation in a variety of food quality control analytical/microbiological support activities is required. Work is performed through the application of a body of knowledge related to standard laboratory methods, practices, procedures, policies, regulations, and laboratory materials and equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Operates and maintains HPLC units
+ Prepping and running samples following established protocol, responsible for maintaining instruments, calibrating, and following maintenance regimen.
+ Prepare eluent and required reagents. Responsible for accuracy in the preparation of reagents, eluents, and standards.
+ Performs chemical and physical analyses on a variety of samples, including food products and intermediate samples.
+ Tests include but are not limited to organoleptic evaluations, pH, acidity titrations, sodium, nitrate/nitrite analyses, Brix, moisture, specific gravity, moisture, pulp content, etc.
+ Performs required calculations and posts/maintains required spreadsheets.
+ Performs microbiological analyses on a variety of products, following required aseptic techniques in media prep, sample collection, plating and bacteria identification.
+ Logs samples and related pertinent information. Follows appropriate documentation and record-keeping procedures.
+ Performs related work as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
+ Proficient in chemistry and laboratory procedures.
+ Attention to detail and strong documentation skills.
+ Troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
+ Proficiency in quality assurance, microbiology, quality control, and GMP.
+ Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Food Science, Quality, or related discipline is preferred
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Eustis, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.50 - $21.50/hr.
