    Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

    Job Description

    We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team in developing and analyzing instrument mounting platforms for a spacecraft program. This role involves collaborating with the structures team to ensure the platforms meet mission and structural requirements. The position will focus on integration activities such as interface control drawing development, dimensional analyses, and contributing to the structural design and integration of the IMP for design review deliverables.

    Responsibilities

    + Collaborate with structures team to develop and integrate instrument mounting platforms.

    + Perform integration activities including interface control drawing (ICD) development and dimensional analyses.

    + Contribute to the structural design and integration of the IMP in support of Preliminary and Critical Design Review deliverables.

    + Support design review efforts, analyze results, and communicate findings to stakeholders.

    + Support the development and maturation of CREO CAD models and engineering integration efforts.

    + Review and evaluate structural designs from internal and external sources for compliance with mission and structural requirements.

    + Work with lead structural engineers to release engineering designs and incorporate necessary changes.

    + Contribute to the design and development of the LM2100 Instrument Pointing Platform.

    + Participate in drawing and technical reviews, ensuring accuracy and adherence to design specifications.

    + Generate and release sketch-level and flight-ready engineering for development and qualified builds.

    + Assist in developing engineering packages for IMP components to meet PDR and CDR requirements.

    + Develop and execute a thermal distortion test for the composite optical bench.

    + Collaborate with thermal and structures engineering teams to develop comprehensive test plans and support Test Readiness Reviews.

    + Contribute to the creation and refinement of structural and development CDRL documentation.

    Essential Skills

    + Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related discipline.

    + Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience in aerospace mechanical design, focusing on instrument mounting platforms.

    + Proficiency in CREO Drawing and Release, EDPM.

    + Experience with developing structural drawings, drawing changes processes, and maintaining parts lists and drawing trees.

    + Experience with mechanisms hardware performance & integration into space vehicles.

    + Strong problem-solving skills and effective interpersonal skills.

    + Excellent oral and written communication skills.

    + Ability to build and maintain trust and credibility with customers and contract personnel.

    + Sound professional judgment in setting objectives, milestones, and priorities.

    + Reliable and dedicated work ethic.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Experience in creating and managing parts lists and drawing trees for accurate documentation and streamlined production.

    + Self-motivated and proactive with a strong ability to take initiative.

    + Ability to effectively engage with project managers, leads, customers, and contract colleagues.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
