    Phlebotomist II

    Job Description

    The primary role of a Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various assigned duties, including troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.

    Responsibilities

    + Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately.

    + Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data.

    + Decontaminate and update patient information.

    + Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.

    + Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.

    + Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles.

    + Understand and follow all physicians' orders.

    + Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.

    + Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.

    + Ensure 100% accuracy in checking test requisitions or computer labels against scripts.

    + Package specimens for transport, maintaining integrity as per protocol.

    + Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.

    + Attend annual department training sessions.

    + Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency in phlebotomy and venipuncture.

    + Experience with blood draws and specimen collection.

    + Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT).

    + Ability to draw blood using various techniques, including butterfly needles.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Experience in hospital or clinic settings.

    + Pediatric experience is required.

     

    Work Environment

     

    The position operates on a Monday to Friday schedule with a rotation for Saturday and Sunday, If working a weekend, a day off during the week will be provided.

    Available shifts include:

    + 4:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

    + 5:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

    + 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

    + 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

     

    Shifts are on a first come first serve basis!

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oconomowoc, WI.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $22.50 - $22.50/hr.
