    Job Title: Joiner** **Job Description

     

    Perform all tasks required to install bulkheads, ceilings, doors, windows, stairs, and furniture in various types of vessels or other marine structures. Transform the unfinished structure of a vessel into living, work, and leisure/recreation spaces.

    Responsibilities

    + Assist in the installation and/or construction of bulkheads, ceiling panels, doors, trim, windows, rails, and hardware.

    + Install insulation in compartment floors, ceilings, or interior/exterior walls.

    + Use tools and equipment efficiently and safely for daily activities.

    + Apply caulking to windows, doors, wash basins, and toilet and shower modules.

    + Install adhesives, tiles, and carpeting in compartments.

    + Review compartment blueprints and sketches to assist in installations.

    + Assist in electrical work such as sizing, strapping, and pulling of cable, installation, and hook-ups on all lights, switches, equipment, and power panels.

    Essential Skills

    + Experience in shipyard or construction is required.

    + Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.

    + Mechanically inclined with familiarity in joinery, carpentry, and insulation.

    + Competence in using hand and power tools.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Prior experience installing bulkheads, ceilings, doors, windows, stairs, and furniture in marine structures preferred.

    + Candidates from the construction industry or with sheet metal experience are ideal.

    + Capable of working in unfinished structures of a vessel.

    Work Environment

    Work inside the NASSCO yard, supporting the new construction build of TAO-X Class Ships. The work involves using a variety of tools such as a flashlight, screwdrivers, tape measure, vice grip pliers, C clamps, screw pouch, pop rivet gun, crescent wrench, combination wrenches, ratchet with sockets, combination square, and a lockable heavy-duty tool bag. The environment supports the assembly and finishing of marine structures.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
