    Job Description

    The Inventory Clerk plays a key role in ensuring company products are accurately stocked, tracked, and ready for customers and internal teams. This position supports daily operations by maintaining precise inventory records, monitoring stock levels, and coordinating with store leadership, yard staff, and vendors to keep materials flowing smoothly. A successful candidate is detail‑oriented, organized, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced, lumber‑yard environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    Inventory Accuracy & Control:

    Perform daily, weekly, and monthly inventory counts across the store, warehouse, and yard.

     

    Investigate inventory discrepancies and work with management to resolve issues.

     

    Maintain accurate product data in the inventory management system.

     

    Monitor stock levels and identify low‑inventory or overstock situations.

    Receiving & Stocking:

    Assist with receiving incoming shipments, verifying quantities and product quality.

     

    Ensure materials are properly labeled, stored, and organized for easy access.

     

    Coordinate with yard and warehouse teams to maintain clean, safe, and efficient storage areas.

    Operational Support:

    Prepare inventory reports for store leadership.

     

    Support cycle counts and annual physical inventory processes.

     

    Communicate with vendors and internal departments regarding product availability and delivery timelines.

     

    Help maintain compliance with company procedures and safety standards.

    Customer & Team Collaboration:

    Work closely with sales and operations teams to ensure product availability for customer orders.

     

    Provide inventory‑related information to team members as needed.

     

    Assist with locating materials for customer pickups or deliveries.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or retail lumber/building materials preferred.

     

    Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.

     

    Ability to use inventory software and basic computer applications.

     

    Comfortable working in indoor and outdoor environments, including lumber yards.

     

    Ability to lift and move materials as required.

     

    Strong communication skills and a team‑oriented mindset.

     

    **Environment:** Employees may spend majority of day outdoors depending on daily tasks. Facility is non temperature controlled where machines are running, and some areas may be loud and dusty. Employees are required to wear steel toe boots, long pants, and safety gear Including glasses, and ear plugs.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Millville, NJ.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
