    Summary Statement

    The Facilities Project Management Intern is a collaborative partner to the Project Management and Facilities & Services Operations teams, supporting work that impacts the entire City of Boise - from the Mayor’s Office and Fire/Police Stations to Libraries, Public Works, and beyond. The intern helps organize, standardize, and publish the City’s design standards and floor plan documentation, working closely with staff to create clear, consistent, and accessible resources for departments, architects, and contractors.

Interns are encouraged to ask questions, contribute ideas, and gain hands-on experience while being guided by experienced professionals who are invested in their growth and success.

     

    This position is designated as At-Will.

    Essential Functions

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

     

    1. Design Standards Collection & Publication

    + Gather, review, and organize existing City design standards, guidelines, and specifications.

    + Identify outdated materials; coordinate with staff to verify current requirements.

    + Format content into a clear, publishable standard suitable for internal and contractor use.

    + Assist in developing a consistent template or style guide.

    2. CAD & Floor Plan Organization

    + Clean, organize, and update CAD files, including layers, naming conventions, and title blocks.

    + Consolidate multiple plan versions into an accurate, authoritative set for each facility.

    + Cross-check plans against recent remodels and updates with staff as needed.

    + Support digital file structure and version control improvements.

    3. Project & Team Support

    + Assist project managers with data collection, document control, space planning tasks, or small research assignments.

    + Participate in team meetings to understand project workflows and City facility operations.

    + Follow City standards for file storage, naming, communication, and record-keeping.

    Requirements

    + Undergraduate or Graduate student enrolled in a college or university.

    + Proficiency in MS Office products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

    + Familiarity with CAD or Revit preferred.

    + Excellent oral and written communication skills.

    + Ability to work independently with general guidelines under minimal supervision.

    19-Hour Temporary

     

    All temporary part-time employees working less than an average of 19-hours per week are not currently eligible for benefits.

     

    4-Month Temporary

     

    All 4-month temporary employees working an average of 40-hours per week will accrue personal leave which can be used during employment.

     

    8-Month Seasonal

     

    In addition to accruing personal leave, anyone in an 8-month seasonal position working over an average of 30-hours per week is eligible for medical coverage.

     

    9-Month Temporary

     

    In addition to personal leave accrual and medical coverage, a position that is classified as a 9-month temporary is eligible for PERSI retirement benefits.
