The Occupational Health Specialist plays a vital role in supporting employee health services while ensuring regulatory compliance in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. In this role, you'll support the Occupational Health Department by conducting DOT/FTA-regulated drug and alcohol testing, maintaining accurate medical documentation, and coordinating required health examinations for safety-sensitive employees. You'll also provide essential administrative support that keeps operations running smoothly.
Compensation: $22.00/hr. - $26.00/hr. (depending on experience)

Essential Functions:
+ Conduct and schedule drug and alcohol tests at the main office and regional locations.
+ Perform general office duties, including answering phones, managing calendars, scheduling appointments, data entry, filing, and managing supply inventory.
+ Schedule 19A examinations, return-to-work, and fit-for duty exams for safety sensitive employees in collaboration with contracted occupational health providers.
+ Track and collect 19A forms, HIPAA releases and request medical documentation as required.
+ Maintain all 19A files, ensuring accuracy and compliance NY State Department of Motor Vehicle & Traffic Law.
+ Communicate safety-sensitive employee work status (cleared, restricted, or out of service) to appropriate departments.
+ Collaborate with the Leave Administrator to secure and process FMLA, Disability, and Workers' Compensation documentation.
+ Uphold the highest level of confidentiality in handling sensitive employee health information and ensure all records are maintained in a HIPPA-compliant manner.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
+ Three (3) years' experience working in a medical office setting.
+ Minimum ofthree (3) years of experiencein a medical office or similar healthcare setting.
+ Valid NYS Driver's Licenserequired (for regional travel in a company vehicle).
+ Certification in drug and alcohol collections preferred;training will be providedif not currently certified.
+ An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the role.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and the ability to learn internal systems.
+ Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
+ Demonstrated discretion when handling sensitive medical and personnel information.
+ Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
+ Ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
+ Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Work Location & Schedule:
+ Primary location:1372 E. Main St., Rochester, NY
+ Occasional travel to surrounding counties required for drug and alcohol testing.
+ This is anon-site positionand is not eligible for hybrid work due to employee-facing responsibilities.
