    Senior Accountant

     

    Salary: $110,000–$120,000 (flexible based on experience)

     

    We are seeking a hands-on, detail-driven Senior Accountant to support a growing, private equity–backed organization with a geographically dispersed footprint. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys owning critical accounting processes, partnering cross-functionally, and contributing to scalable systems and controls—without direct responsibility for running the entire accounting function.

     

    The Senior Accountant will play a key role in financial reporting, close, commissions accounting, and process improvement, working closely with the Director of Accounting.

    Key Responsibilities

    Financial Reporting & Close

     

    + Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities for multiple locations

    + Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules

    + Assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP

    + Support timely and accurate reporting for executive leadership and private equity stakeholders

    + Maintain intercompany accounting and eliminations

    + Support annual audits by preparing schedules and responding to auditor requests

     

    Accounting Operations, Payroll & Commissions

     

    + Support day-to-day accounting operations including general ledger, AP, AR, and fixed assets

    + Assist with multi-state payroll accounting, accruals, and reconciliations

    + Support accounting for benefits, bonuses, and incentive compensation programs

    + Prepare, review, and reconcile sales commission calculations and accruals

    + Partner with sales and operations teams to ensure commission accuracy and clarity

     

    Internal Controls & Compliance

     

    + Execute and maintain internal controls in alignment with private equity standards

    + Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal and multi-state requirements

    + Assist with sales/use tax, property tax, and coordination of income tax filings with third-party providers

    + Support documentation and compliance related to audits, insurance, and bonding

     

    Systems & Process Improvement

     

    + Serve as a key user and subject matter contributor for the Sage 300 ERP system

    + Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy

    + Support reporting automation, system enhancements, and acquisition integrations

     

    Strategic & Growth Support

     

    + Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis

    + Provide insights on profitability by location, service line, and customer

    + Support acquisition due diligence and post-acquisition integration activities

    + Assist with lender and private equity reporting requirements

    Qualifications

    Required

    + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

    + 5–8+ years of progressive accounting experience

    + CPA or CPA-track strongly preferred

    + Experience in a private equity–backed or high-growth environment

    + Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls

    + Experience with multi-state operations, payroll accounting, or commissions

    + Hands-on experience with Sage 300 or similar ERP systems

     

    Preferred

     

    + Experience in industrial services, field services, construction, or equipment service industries

    + Exposure to acquisitions and integration support

    + Familiarity with job costing or service-based revenue models

    + Percentage of Completion accounting

    + Lease accounting experience
