Job Description

The Sr. Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Engineer is responsible for coordinating environmental compliance programs at our Remington Ammunition facility in Lonoke, AR, with primary focus on Title V air permit and RCRA Subpart B requirements. Oversees daily operations including air emissions, hazardous waste management, NPDES permitting, spill prevention, stormwater compliance, and waste manifesting. Ensures adherence to all applicable local, state, and federal environmental regulations. Serves as on-scene commander for chemical spills/releases and coordinates with emergency responders. May supervise or assist other Environmental Department staff. Supports the Safety Department through audits, inspections, industrial hygiene activities, and related duties as needed.
This position reports to the Environmental Manager and is based out of our Lonoke, Arkansas office.
As the Sr. EHS Engineer, you will:
+ Compile data and prepares Local, State, and Federal regulatory reports as well as Corporate environmental reports and requests. Ensure that regulatory and corporate reporting deadlines are met. Monitor local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and orders as they apply to environmental practices and keeps Environmental management personnel and other personnel informed of changes and events. Ensures current policies, procedures, and documentation follow government laws and regulations.
+ Draft permit conditions, process descriptions and other technical permit content. Responsible for writing and overseeing compliance to complex permits, Schedules of Compliance, and consent orders with regulatory agencies for a complex manufacturing facility with a long and complex regulatory history.
+ Perform new source review for varying industrial operations that emit air contaminants, including toxic air pollutants.
+ Apply an engineering understanding of best available control technology, interpretation of source test results, and ambient air quality modeling data to determine and make risk decisions related to implementation of control technology changes or additions.
+ Take a hands-on approach to resolving any potential air emissions concerns by actively leading and working with cross functional teams and performing frequent and regular on-site inspections of production and emissions control equipment.
+ Work closely with cross functional support departments and operating departments, leadership teams, and production employees to identify risks and collectively work to mitigate or eliminate them
+ Hazardous and Non-Hazardous Waste Tracking/Disposal: Complete waste determination and identify disposal methods. Review inventories of hazardous/non-hazardous waste storage for all operations/facilities. Schedule waste shipments with disposal facilities and trucking companies. Complete waste manifests for shipments.
+ Receive requests from other departments for reclamation and recycling needs and coordinates work to be performed with the Environmental Manager and other support staff.
+ Develop training materials and complete in person or virtual training for employees.
+ Coordinates and assists in carrying out internal company environmental audits.
+ Coordinate with ammunition recycling center (ARC) operations for inbound shipments of waste materials, work with operations teams on scheduling of waste shipments, and audit inventories of wastes against permit requirements.
+ Perform audits on receiving, handling, storage, packaging, repackaging, transportation, and processing of hazardous materials at ARC.
+ Assist the safety team with performance of audits, inspections, industrial hygiene analysis, and other work as required by the Environmental Manager.
+ Develop waste profile sheets on in-plant generated waste streams and assists off site customers with development of waste profile sheets.
+ Ensure full compliance with RCRA regulations with particular focus on TSDF (Subpart B) and Air (EEE Title V) requirements.
+ Review waste manifests from other source locations and make determinations on ability to process at the ARC.
+ Perform above tasks with minimal supervision following established procedures.
You have:
+ Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering or business administration/management or experience in lieu of education.
+ 10+ years’ experience in hazardous waste industry
+ 10 years’ work experience in general environmental regulations and reporting.
+ Thorough understanding and broad application of environmental regulations, standards, principles, theories, and techniques.
+ Excellent organizational and communication skills, consistently accurate record keeping with a high attention to detail.
+ Experience with RCRA Subpart B and EEE Title V requirements.
Might have:
+ Multi-functional experience in both environmental and safety regulations
+ Experience at an RMP and/or PSM covered facility
+ Experience working with and managing explosives and explosive waste streams
+ Experience at RCRA permitted Treatment, Storage, and Disposal Facility.
Work Environment:
Employee work assignments may include tasks working with and/or exposure to potentially hazardous areas, including flammables and explosives. Safety training is provided to all employees to ensure compliance with company and federal regulations.
Pay Range:
$73,100.00 - $102,200.00
The actual annual salary offered to a candidate will be based on variables including experience, geographic location, education, and skills/achievements, and will be mutually agreed upon at the time of offer.
